Im sure everyone has hit a point in other games where they hit the max level cap and poof... now what do I do..any XP gain is totally wasted. Even in games like Modern warfare where you can start over a bunch of times the well still runs dry pretty quick. So I got to thinking what if you could mentor to other pilots wile your in your prestige mode (if there will be such a thing) and help them level up. Big side note on that though, I would suggest it be a very small amount of increased XP gain as power leveling ruins games. This could be used to gain loyalty/favor within your faction be it a house, clan, or merc group. For those running lone wolf it could be used to slowly boost their loyalty/favor with a faction that they are in poor standing with. Another possibility I was thinking of is having a huge tree of misc bonus perks that could be unlocked by doing additional runs through the levels. Mainly silly stuff that just for show.

sounds like a good idea. I realy like the training part to raise your loyalty.

That's a good idea. One of the things Planetside did was have two types of experience: There was regular, and then Command exp. Command exp was given for leading a squad and completing meta objectives, and rewarded the player with access to the satellite bombardment network. Perhaps something like that can be done here.

Tutoring for leveling other players: Ok.

Bunch of extra perks that exist but can only be picked up on follow on playthroughs: N. O.

Here's why: Not everyone will be a day one adopter. There is no reason what-so-ever to put new players further in the hole experience-wise than they already will be starting.

Then dont do it?

This game doesnt seem to be focusing on "Leveling" as much as say a MMORPG. As with CoD and such, the focus is more action and skill orientated. Leveling as it sounds, just opens up other items and increases proficiency with certain mech/items, ie. in WoT, I have every non purchasable tank, in your logic my game is over, restart for me. But no, it just opens more options for me, the game is about conquest and blowing tanks up.

Edit* My funderful spelling

Its a good sugestion for a game like CoD, or WoW where leveling is the point,

I agree with Rathverge, levling is not what you log in to do and if you do cap out, your still piloting a battlemch which is why ou signed up in the first place. MW2/3/4 did great for a very long time and had no storry like elements in it like we are going to see for MW:O. I think when a player 'does' cap out, there will still be things to work for outside levleing thier player, not to mention the possability that you can level up indaviduals mechs. So you may max out your starter mech the Dragon, but you still have an atlas to master after that, and if you some how get ahold of a daishi, you now have that to level up as well. you level up every assault in the game? Try a difrent roll. there will be lots of replay value and lots to keep working for as new mechs are added as well as changes NPC faction landscape. All your lp is in one faction that gets consumbed by the clans and no longer exists, well you now need to earn LP some where else and earn rank some where else.

Like I said, "mainly silly stuff, thats just for show"

All good points so far everyone. I think its important for me to mention that leveling and gaining XP wasnt the point im going after but im a very goal oriented player and having lots of directions to work on seems to be the best way to keep me hooked. In COD when I maxed the level cap I then started working on goals like 10,000 headshots, and 1,000,000 kills and unlocking all the awards...needless to say when im not deployed I have lots of time to play games.

Not sure how I think about some sort of powerleveling being integrated into the game. I can on the one side see how you would like to become a buddy proficient enough to team up with you on equal footing. On the other hand it would kind of water down the sense of achievement. Also I see the danger of it being a big wide entry door for some shady RMT business, that one.

And we all probably know what RMT can do to a game once it gets its foot into the door...

Ahh, good point... Incase anyone is wandering RMT stands for Real Money Trading...and is possibly the biggest backer of the pay to win arena. Great work keeping the look out there Dlardrageth...I often forget that people would actually pay real money to skip to the end game.. seems kinda pointless to me... ive seen it happen alot in MMOs and its usually bad for the community as a whole because you have a top tier player with great equipment that doesnt know how to play his/her toon.
