I felt like we needed one of these.

I'll start.

This is a man mech. It is the epitome of all things bad *** and manly. Do you get aroused when you see it? Of course you do, because your a man.

This is the result of someone with an extremely small ***** trying to compensate, the result being Giant Fallopian Canons on legs.

Fallopian tubes are a part of the female reproduction system. Please see the diagram above.

I am sure you meant "Phallic"...

Wasn't censored by choice :D

And not gonna argue the Urbie standpoint, but it wasn't involved in the Reseen/unseen shenanigans (at least not that I remember)

So...FASA infringes wholesale on various Anime properties and somehow it's Harmony Gold's fault?

whats even more ironic is harmony gold has nothing to do with the removal of the stone rhino.

the art was contracted out and they unseen it, just in case.

Infringes how exactly? By licensing from the company that holds those "intellectual properties" (at least in this case)? That is a novel definition of infringement.

FASA never licensed them to the best of my knowledge when the whole shebang exploded...

nor is it practical to do so considering there are several different anime series from which they were taken, FASA would essentially have to negotiate for each separately.

which is the whole point of Reseen, else Reseen wouldn't be necessary at all... if they had licensed them (assuming they could) then they could just reuse the Unseen design that were cleared through licensing.

AFAIK they didn't infringe, they got agreement from the Macross creator to use it, but the problem has been with the Harmony Gold buying the license for Macross rebranding it Robotech. Hassling fasa over the "Robotech" mech, an IP they really didn't create at all...

The entire legal arrangement here is something of a minefield, the bottomline was that Fasa wasn't willing to spend any more money in court and went with a far easier sollution.

We can cry ***** and moan all we want, but we aren't getting the unseen back. You could probably only achieve it if Robotech went completely defunct and the Harmony Gold rights were transfered to the Macross holder. You would need a new agreement with these guys though.

I would personally prefer it if we got reseens with the Flying Debris treatment and retconned these mechs into being the real deal.
Just reprint these suckers in TRO 3039 and 3050 and we're done.

Yes, because Harmony Gold won't let the issue lie. Of the 3 animes the unseens come from, only the only (Macross) that involves Harmony Gold has been pulled again after new legal agreements and artwork.

Harmony Gold also does (and never did) own the rights to the images. They only ever had the distribution rights outside of Japan.

Ok FASA didn't infringe, they had licensed from another company who "may or may not" have had the rights to license... they had Also contacted the japanese creators and gotten a go ahead from them.

And the funny thing here is that Harmony Gold is trying to create a boardgame with minis that have the same scale as BT minis.
http://robotechbattles.blogspot.nl/

I could really go for a Marauder, Warhammer and Rifleman right about now...

Yeah, why not. Palladium already did a Robotech RPG back in 1986. Would only make sense they'd be working on the new one.

What was the last thing HG did with its rights with Robotech/Macross? AFAIK that silly featurette that had none of the orginal Valks/Destroids...

-.- this is awsome.

To rag on HG further, The Shadow Chronicles was greatly inferior in comparison to the last Macross series...

Which had the Monster/Rhino destroid mech turn into a variable fighter like the other Valk/LAMs...

Of course it had none of the original Valks and Destroids, they don't exactly have an animation studio like Studio Nue nor do they have the help of Kawamori since he's the main principle designer for every Valkyries...

(side note: Crusher Joe which is one of the anime that had quite a few of it's mech and vehicle design taken by FASA for BT in the Unseen also had quite a few of it's mech and vehicles designed by Kawamori)

To create new animation using the old design without the assistance of any of it's creator is already a challenge in itself, to do so and fit into the existing spaghetti mess in the timeline of Robotech that HG created without tripping their own foot is another

incidentally OP:
i could care less if HG burned and what not, but you might wanna avoid insulting Monster destroid design since Monster is one of the enduring design in Macross series and one of the fan favorite.

Take your issue with HG to them if you'd like, but leave the Macross design out of it... since HG has ZERO relevance on the actual design of the original Macross.
