- Companies, Houses, Clans
- Territories
- Game community driven economy
- Actual outcomes of battles have a real impact who occupys what space / territory etc.
What's your take on this.

Also there is no word on a player driven economy yet.

That's like saying MWO is similar to CoD cause they both fire shells based weapons at other players and have UAVs.

PvP focus
This game is extremely PvP-focused. There is no single player campaign and probably not many NPCs other than the occasional turret if I had to guess. It's all about team work and coordination between players using their skills and tactics to win.
Companies, Houses, Clans
These terms may lead to some confusion because they're part of the lore and used in different respects when compared to standard MMO terms. At the moment, it doesn't seem as if there is going to be much of an economic or crafting element so a corporation or 'industrial' (to use the parlance) probably won't exist (at least initially). Houses, as the game describes them, are the 4 major factions from the lore that comprise the majority of the Inner Sphere. Players align themselves with a major and fight for it under the territory mechanic. Clans (as a faction) will be introduced later on.
Territories / Actual outcomes of battles
The territory mechanic is reflected by the progress of faction-aligned players and their mercenary units performance in instanced, lobby-based matches. More information on this can be found here http://mwomercs.com/...munity-warfare/
Game community driven economy
Like I said above, it appears that there won't be much in this regard. I could be wrong but at the moment, there just isn't enough information about it to say anything worth noting.

EVE is crazy indepth, and I have played it a little but it is so vast I feel you have to invest tons of gameplay time... I'm sure if I really looked into it I could do some quick drops, missions etc. That whole game entity is just insane, if I really got into it I'm sure I would have no life outside of EVE, haha.
I had a chance to get in on the beta of EVE but passed on it, if maybe I had been playing from the start it would be easier to keep up, but getting dropped into the middle now is tough. I instead went the EA Earth and Beyond route... which was a little lighter and of course did not last long but I mostly attribute that to be EA's fault due to the fact that they are a money hungry corporation that occasionally puts out a game. But that is entire thread/rant on it's own.
but a Mechwarrior -eve world would be intriguing with both interstellar space battles, jumpships, drops ships, aerospace fighters... and then planetary battles, but I'm pretty sure that is not the direction the MWO is heading, for better or for worse
but as an aside, if someone were to get an EVE like Inner Sphere game off the ground, i'm sure this community would support it, the economy, territory struggle, manufacturing etc all lends itself to hardcore fans which I feel like the Battletech franchise has some of the most loyal and fanatical.

With that being said, it's not gonna be like that b/c I don't think these guys are wanting to spend that kind of time and manpower on it. Even though it would be a bigger money maker I think they are wanting to do the quick and dirty dollar shuffle.
Just my thoughts.

Well someone is in a condescending mood. On another note I played EVE online for close to four years, a comparison can and should be made. The Meta game of MWO sounds quite similar to null and high sec. systems in EVE. However the micro game, in, other words, the real mech gameplay, sounds like it borrows a number of different elements from RTS games. If any of you read the information war dev blog it mentions non player units aside from UAVs and sensors having LOS information on enemy mechs, as well as command mechs issuing orders to players and said units. I interperet this as an indication we may end up fighting alongside semi sentient AI units. What I mean is, you may be running around in your bushwacker and run into a column of enemy tanks and infantry. I certainly hope this is the case as it would add to the feeling that we are piloting giant killing machines.

The devs mentioned that
- Each day in the actual world is a day in the game world.
- You can expect to login and find things have changed from the day before.
- Players (Factions / Merc corps) have the ability to take and try and hold onto territory (i believe everything but the core worlds) and be rewarded (gain) from it.
- You do the above through PVP
These are similar to Eve online, is it a bad thing, absolutely not. Is MWOL going to be a clone of Eve online, highly unlikely. But there is something refreshing about this
You’re not doing Battle grounds or FPS maps that reset once the match is over and then its rinse and repeat. You’re not farming the same dungeon with the same mechanics over and over again.
What you and your mates do does matter, does have some impact.
If you're in a Merc Corps you may loose a battle for a outer world, regroup and make a 2nd attempt to get some payback only to find that the team that beat you have been beaten by another group and guess what ...you haven’t gone up against them before and don’t have any Intel on their play style or tactics.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that this type of approach is more dynamic, less predictable, allot more fun and exciting.

Moreover the introduction of logistics, supply lines, availability of jump ships and spare parts, etc would bring the game one step beyond, but maybe this is already too much for a tactical mech game?

A lot of players join a corp, but the game is spread over a lot of space from hi-sect to low- sect, I hope mechwarrior does not follow EVE but goes it's own way.
Does anyone know if the NA server will be the same as Wot's because if it is it will be hard to play it here in Australia.

- Solaris - Way Back in the day had Planet Capture
- MPBT3025 in 2000 before EA scraped that project it had all of the above mentioned.
- Looks around...(Someone might shoot me for this)Inner Sphere Wars (2002 to 2008 - Used MW4 as the dirtside combat engine) which had an in-depth House Logistics system and Working Economy and Planet Capture...I should know...I was one of the Founding Devs for this project.
This idea has been around for a very long time BEFORE EvE Online.....

NO! I Say Again, NO!
I played EVE online for several years and among the many MMOs I have played, despites its good points it was in many ways the most absolutelty ridiculously frustrating experience I have ever had. In any MMO I want to experience the maximum variety of the approaches to the game content as possible through as many different perspectives ie. Character classes, factions, ship types etc as possible. In EVE online this is quite simply impossible. Training one character to any level of profiiciency to experience the entirety of the game is almost prohibitive in the huge amount of time it costs. Try doing that with three Charcters(Which was the max allowed allowed at the time and automatically denied you the chance to play for at least one faction). Then try geting and comparing every ship available in the game with every weapon system and secondary system available. It quite simply cannot be done.
It remained very unsatisfactory as an MMORPG because players were(At least at the time) locked into their ships with no face to face character interaction possible. And yes I understand as an MWO Mechwarrior has no plans to do this. EVE has had plans for this and has consistently failed to implement them. Perhaps by now they have, I don't know.
Also, EVE is the ultimate game for Griefers, bullys, immature kids and descriptions I cannot mention. Even at my worst moments in WOW(And this is saying something) I never encounterd this level of absolutely ridiculously idiotic and sadistic behavior, which is in fact encouraged and promoted by the design of the game itself. In short, in terms of community as a whole I'd take the worst MMO or MMORPG ever created and then rank EVE below it. People said if I didn't like it I could quit. Guess what, I did.
To Pattern MWO after any other MMO out there would be a mistake given the fact that Mechwarrior/Battletech has more than enough popularity, history and market appeal to stand on its own.
Pattern it after EVE Online and not only would I not play it even if paid to do so, I would take everything battletech /Mechwarrior I own(Including some very rare first edition novels) pile it in an oil drum, light it on fire and donate it to the homeless in need of heat this winter in my community.
I trust I'm making myself perfectly clear.
