I played MW1 through MW4 and loved them all (MW2 was the best). However, I never delved into the lore of the game. What are a few good websites to get accurate as well as entertaining Mechwarrior/Battletech educated? Is there a 'Cliff's Notes" for the Battletech world? What books would be good to provide a deeper immersion into the game?

The Warrior Trilogy and the Blood of Kerensky trilogies are good novels to start with. Sarna.net is a good wiki resource.

Even better, if you really want a high level overview of the universe, check this out for battletech history in a few pages: http://www.battletec...erseGuide-1.pdf

Well, the Blood of Kerensky trilogy is set at the point at which MWO starts, and features the IS's early encounters with and responses to the Clans.

The Legend of the Jade Phoenix trilogy is good, and will give you a lot of background on the Clans' society and inner workings.

The Warrior trilogy is enjoyable, and covers a fair bit of IS politics, the events of the Fourth Succession War, and the formation of the Federated Commonwealth.

Just got those two on my new Kindle. Enjoying them immensely. Glad I got the major trilogies covered (snagged a physical copy of the Jade Phoenix Trilogy a couple of years back).

You can also sashay over to the BattleTechWiki, which seems to have everything about everything related to the BT universe. Be warned though that there is TONS of info to shift through, and it includes everything from the tabletop world as well.
