Free Holocaust. He was banned from the forum because some third world mod with a inferiority complex got twitchy and decided to ban him. He has been a long standing player in the Mecha community for over 12 years. His name was no more offensive then the name Gun would be because some pantywaist gets all Justin Beiber when seeing it. Is this game for the light in the loafer crowd or gamers?

Whats worse is the fact that they lost a guaranteed paying customer, as well as a few others from SA who will now instead wait on the free open beta and possibly not purchase. All of his attempted contacts to support have been ignored. What if he had paid into the game and some mod got bent and banned him. Would he lose his purchases? It also brings up a scary point that if you are a paying customer and a forum mod bans you, are you no longer allowed in game, or have access to your purchases? What is the remediation process for grievances? I sure hope ignoring them, as has been done to HOLO isn't the customer service plan.

Free Holo, Don't let some uppity mods ruin this game with their idea of "fairness"

The fact that somebody can be banned with no explanation is very disturbing. If I had purchased a founders pack and then was unable to use it due to some child with mod status I would be unhappy. If he was banned due to his name then there needs to be some power taken away from somebody. If the name was so offensive why was it not filtered out?

Disturbing how? It's a private forum, they have absolute discretion. More to the point, this thread is out of line - no discussion of moderation, ever and certainly not discussion with others followed by a stupid 'protest' thread. Reported, obviously.

hmmmm i smell troll. :D
If there is a problem with a game nick, then they would only need to enforce a nick change.

Good point on the filter Neppy, that's a easy implementation on the web side as most systems have a banned word filter. You can even download one. Of course I also subscribe that Microsoft has banned and filtered a ton of Multiplayer names and HOLOCAUST still has his Xbox live account in good standing.

I don't really see that you can compare the words 'holocaust' and 'gun'. A gun can be used by anybody in self defense, it isn't the same as a historical attempted racial genocide. Although you could try arguing that holocaust doesn't specifically refer to that event, it would be the same as arguing that you should be allowed to cover your mech with swastikas because it wasn't only used as a Nazi symbol.

I think that it's probably fair enough to ask him to change name, given that they'd do the same if you used the name of any other mass-murder event for your pilot.

I guess I have 5 seconds to feed your need for attention.

With a name like that you were asking to be banned, no one should make light of that event. This would happen in any respectable modern game.

SakuranoSenshi, You run on and tattle tale. If someone can't get a hold of support what are they supposed to do? GuntherK that's what I would expect too. Some kind of notification and a simple name change and everyone is happy.

I agree 100%. Asking for the name change is fair. That did not happen. They banned him.
