Pre-Launch Psa: A Call For Civility

My guess is that a sizable chunk of bads and newbies will be headed to the forums in the near future; try to tell them they're wrong in a civil manner. I'm guilty of being a {Richard Cameron} on the forums, so I'll be making a concerted effort to be less arrogant and combative. I'm asking others to do the same.
In other news, there's a Community Meet and Greet event scheduled for launch night on the Comstar NA Teamspeak server. You should totally be there. All the cool kids are going.
Why is this in Game Balance? Because this thread is the epitome of General Discussion. It's not New Player Help or a Guide. It's not a Loadout, this isn't News, it doesn't go in the Barracks, it's not Forum Fun, and it doesn't really fit anywhere. Because it's General Discussion. So here it sits until exiled to somewhere equally unrelated.

I tried this maneuver when we went OB.
Expect this:
4man Elite pug-stompers coming out in force to ruin the game experience for newbies.
Forum trolls waiting on the forums for the confused newbie posting telling them to f-off, or that the game is absolute garbage (Similar to Jasen and his "friend" for those who saw that.)
I spent my entire evening trying to do damage control.. it was far more cost than benefit. As such.. I won't add to the problem (any more than I already do) but my Altruism Consumable Module has been expended, and is not being reacquired.
Best of Luck.

I'm not trying to change the world; it's just a reminder for those who have gotten too entrenched in the meaningless, day-to-day fighting. There are new, clueless people out there, they will be coming here with stupid opinions, and it would be nice to not be quite as rabid as usual.

I'm going to let my wallet do the talking for me. I hope I'm always civil but I do get wound up from time to time.

Nice thread HB! Right where it belongs... where most of the people who would be tempted to be {Richard Cameron} can read it.
Not you Peef... as you were

NO. I was ridgehumping. DON'T stick your nose up my rear-actuator. Now I'm on top of a ridge and can't move and... oh... 3 Ilyas are firing at me!!!!
NO. Don't stop at the mouth of the narrow alley. Push through, and let any of the 8 'Mechs behind you take a shot to back you up. Don't just stand there boxing us in, and "trading" with 3 enemies simultaneously

Those mouth breathers and self proclaimed elitists will continue to be huge ****** 24/7. I like the idea of trying to show a little more forgiveness to the supposed new influx of players, but lets be honest. Douchebags will be douches. Its in their nature. You cannot change that.

Gonna invite all to the mech park for Reds and some friendly poker.

I hope this plea doesn't fall on deaf ears- there definitely seems to be a darker side to these forums as of late, and mostly, it is because PEOPLE DON"T COME HERE. They just stop. Closed beta had it's asshates but it was a much better place when the future of the world was like the gaseous clouds of a forming solar system, bright and full of promise. But as things coalesced and people saw things they didn't want to - well it has darkened. Most spacefarers would just say hey, let us look to what is on the horizon if this doesn't suit our needs, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
I know plenty of my groupmates that won't come here just because it is such a vile place, and rely on the few of us that do to bring them news. To me this is the saddest part. This is supposed to be a resource and a place of sharing, communicating for all players but instead, it is what it is.
I, almost, hope pgi decides to archive every thread on launch day and call that beta discussion, and open with a sparkly new forum. I don't think it is going to happen though.

"4-man pug stompers", LOL, this is a team game, noob or not, there is nothing wrong with playing in a group, or organizing your group on VOIP. I do not go out of my way to make the game inhospitable to new players and neither do any of the people I drop with.
