Panther is a good Mech, as long as you can keep the right arm attached to the torso...if not you're a walking SRM platform.

In 'Mech 4 it was the Couger hands down for me. Solaris matches had me stripping off all the weapons, mounting 2 ER LL and a bunch of armor/engine for speed. Tried to do a ER PL instead, always ended up having to wade in that little pond in the center of the jungle, the standard ER LL worked wonders. Would cut through 25 ton 'Mechs with ease. Think I may have used that config at the start of the single player mode too?

'Mech 3 it was the Puma, hands down awesome. 2 PPC and enough heat sinks thrown in to give you a nice rate of fire. My config was abit slow, but all the weight I put into it was armor so, it was a trade off. But that game had major balance issues; See a Mech, shoot it's legs, WIN!

MPBT 3025 (EA) it was the Raven. It didn't have any head armor, bug in the code, but what it did have was 4 med las, same as the FS Jav, PLUS an LRM 5. It's back up speed was faster then most medium 'Mechs forward speed, minus maybe the Cicada?. So, basically, back up and fire those LRMs at range and you could do some serious target softening. Took out my buddys Blackjack, LL varient, that way. Went up against a lance of FS Javs. Positioned myself on a hill, it was in one of those missions with the "tank" fields, three other javs positioned them selfs behind and flanking two tanks. I'd ping them w/ an LRM, the'd run to ML range and the other three Mechs would alpha them. Looked like the things were comming out the other end of a meat grinder. lol.

I think this game, MWO, it will come down to how the 'Mechs pilot. I'm really hoping they do something akin to MPBT with the way the 'Mechs move, because that game had it pretty square, IMHO. Mech 4 was abit too...arcade like. The 'Mechs were too mobil, it never really felt like I was piloting a Mech in that game. Mechs need to STOMP the ground, not do Swan Lake across it. Not to say I didn't like the game, was just spoiled by MPBT Mech physics.

Either the pack hunter or the incubus. I prefer the incubus in its secondary config.

I'd go the Panther. Just the base variant, all the others got screwed up when house Kurita got its greasy mitts on that thing.
Got 1 weapon and not enough heatsinks to deal with THAT?
What? Really?

The Adder is a great little light mech. It has a low profile and 2 PPCs. So fun to hang out at long ranges playing tag with heavier mechs. I also love the Firefly.

I don't always pilot Inner Sphere 'mechs, but when I do I pilot Star League tech.

Firemoth or Adder. One for the shear speed, one for the surprising firepower.

Succession War-era, I like the Firestarter (especially the FS9-M Mirage variant, since the fact that it was only produced for a year before the destruction of its original factory makes it's (almost) a Skye exclusive).

Afterward, there are plenty of good lights, but I'm especially fond of the Night Hawk and Spector.

How can this list not include two of the best, the Solitaire (Clan Diamond Shark - 3067) or the Hellion (Clan Ice Hellion).
But to show its not all about the Clans... Raven (Capellan Confederation)

Spider 30 tons 8/12/8 2 mediums in the center torso. High tech add endo and swap in two medium pulse no xl. You can blow off both arms and torsos and she's still a viable threat!
Why didn't they add double heatsinks I don't know...
