As others have pointed out Purple is the Imperial Colour, Old Terran Emperors and Popes wore purple, It was the Colour of the Senator-class and implies divine right. Only the Marik Militia use Purple dress uniforms, most of our 'mechs are usually drab-olive or some such terrain-dependant camo (unless on parade).

*looks like the bendy swords are on the trolling path again...methinks they'd be better posting in the Davion forum, that way the FedSuns might take pity on their little house of horrors, and give them some of their worlds back to make them feel more "manly" about getting their arses handed to them on a plate time after time.....or the limp swords could just take those worlds back from the FedCom like the FWLM did in '57...oh! that's right! the CapCon only ever looses worlds...I forgot...bad me*
