When WoT came out, they had and still have a series of commercials about crushing the competition. One featured an Orc being run over by a tank, it was rather amusing. Any way the thought came to me in a few games while playing WoT where I wished I was in a mech and could just stomp on that IS-7 that was being a pain in my side.

Scene: Wooded Valley, Tank moving through the area, occasional tree being knocked down.
The tank moving at a good clip tracks and fires on other tanks on the move knocking them out.
After a few cuts, the tank takes a Laser hit to the right side tracking the vehicle.
The camera follows as the tanks turret rotates to show a Battlemech stomping its way through the woods. The mech is almost on top of the tank as the turret is in position. The tanks weapon fires doing nothing to stop the Mech. With in another second the tank is crushed as the mech steps on it and continues moving on its way leaving the tanks crushed carcass smoking behind.

Then a fade to black, text entry "Why play with tanks when you can have a mech!" Text fade after five seconds. Text fly in from right and left, meet at center "Mechwarrior Online" and "www.mwomercs.com".

Stupid IS-7's...MECH SMASH!!!!

There is a little problem with crushing something as heavy as a tank. The IS-7 tank already weighs easily in the 60 to 80 ton range. Which is heavy to assault class almost in mech ranges.

So while not entirely, perhaps, crushing the tank as per say. How about stepping on it and leaving a big sodding boot mark on it effectively taking the tank out? Perhaps even putting one of those massive AC-20 shells through the top of the tanks turret dome?

Cheesy... too cheesy.

Why not actually focus on Mechwarrior, rather than WoT with mechs. Why on Earth would anyone imagine something else than poor WoT clone with such a video? Focus on it's strength gents... make it a Mechwarrior ad.

Why not having a unit of tanks moving though a forest and when they clear it an Urbanmech is tagging along with them and starts to shoot them in the back.

They should choose some fugly tank with fat turret.

Doing it with WoT is only one of the many choices these could be made. The tanks in WoT are simply the heavies and nearest, current games, equivalents to mechs right now.

A vid could be made with cars too. And with anything else, like Orcs or even *gasp* Space marines. :)

Only the talents and imaginations of the creators of such vids would be the limit really.

I can only imagine what all one who knows how to make these kinds of vids from scratch almost needs to do to make them. And if anyone actually does make one (or more) of decent quality (that's not ripped from other videos and simply edited together although that will also take some skill as well) well then my hat's off to you sir/madam. :)

Thing is tanks are not designed to take on a vertical load. So while their front and side armor is very sturdy and their frames are designed to hold that, their top armor is very weak and their ability to maintain a high vertical load is also reduced. Plus put enough pressure per square inch, say that from a single mech foot onto it and the turret will crush and the body will bend.

Any way this was just an idea and as I said I was getting pissed off in WoT. But as has also been said there is allot of room for the many different games. Heck you could take on say Arma with a unit of soldiers moving then being cut to ribbons by a hidden mech. Or...heck you could have the Mech Hot Dropped onto the tank...or Death From Above. What else...May even have room to have a Jagermech shoot down a Skyrim Dragon...that could be amusing. Many possibilities.

True, I agree with you there that tanks are not able to well take top side pressure as such. But I did not say with would not do any effect. Simply that the tank is very sizable and the foot of the mech, while large, is hardly really that big that it would cover the the tank on parts fully enough.
But it would certainly do nasty wreck or leave a nasty enough foot print while causing massive damage to what ever part it put it down to. While the tank is heavy its weight is more evenly distributed on along the horizontal lines. And the mech thus can enforce more force on the foot, true, but it is still small enough foot print that while not might not cause a large tank to totally bend it would still do massive enough damage to cause it to become inoperable. :P

And yes, I am agreeing with you in my own weird way. :(
