They guy asked a clear question so please give a clear answer to him : Atlas

Anyone with another opinion is invited for a match with his founders mech against my choosen (superior) variant

You can take down an Atlas with a Jenner. Just keep behind it.

Not by much. Thanks to the Jenner's large engine (245 rate) It is almost as expensive as the Catapults 260 rate engine. Now after that... yeah the Jenner is cheap. But for 300,000 C-Bills you can get a Centurion. More fire power & Armor. Not a founder selection but a great all around Mech.

You can always put a smaller engine in.

I have not been into Beta yet and debating on purchasing Elite Founders version. So was wondering which mech was best? Atlas looks sick and others appear to be faster with perhaps more firepower.

With the available mechs the choices for the founders are excellent overall. I chose the Cat but I would have been equally happy with any of them. Besides you get 1 more mech your choice and in game cash to buy more mechs so its not like you'll be hurting for mechs.

Possibly one other consideration. Mechs require repairs and rearming costs so if you had a Founders Atlas it wouldn't hurt your wallet so much after a battle. But it comes back to what mech you think you'll pilot the most I guess.

What's your playstyle?

I focus on speed in most games, and am a born ankle biter, so, for me I am going to say Jenner is Likely best, being a scout 'Mech designed for hit-and-run attacks.

Jenner is hit and run
Hunchback is mobile firepower
Catapult is fire support
Atlas is a juggernaut

Get the legendary founder pack and you'll have all 4 founders mechs. Easy fix.

I am still not sold that this game is worth $120. $60 maybe (since most big titles go for that much any ways) but at launch this game better be much more than a death match only game with an actual story and solo game play. Also 8 vs 8 is not enough.

I was mainly referring to the base chassis, and the role's they were designed for.

In general, Catapults are designed to rain long range fire on the battlefield from the C1 with it's LRMs to the K2 sniping with PPCs. Pilots are free to make changes, but most Catapults will still be fire support.

Which mech is the healer type? not a tanking kinda guy.

;)

This is actually a very cool idea! I would love to be a support/repair mech on the battle field and help patch up my team to keep fighting the good fight!

Best founder mech is with the best pilot piloting it.

Simple all mechs are dangerous, good pilots make them deadly.

Dead enemies do no damage. Your best bet is the ability to kill.

Say no to MW3 magical MFBs.

i think MFB's or some incarnation there in, would be nice to have, but then again, I think beyond the infantry shooter ideal: kill em all, kill em all right now.

Another consideration to throw into the mix is your connection. I would love to fly around the maps in a Jenner, but I am in Australia and the latency might be a problem when your life depends upon being fast and agile. It would only take a little bit rubber-banding from net lag to completely ruin your day!
Consequently, I'll ride that Atlas :)

Best solution: Drop the $120, have 'em all :P

First off, there are a few people giving way too much info in this post. It's really riding a fine line with the NDA if not NDA breaking already.

Secondly, I don't think the founders mechs are upgradable. Your stuck with whatever they are already fitted with.

It really boils down to what role you like to play. Scoutish and fast, brawler with some long range capability, long range missle boat with some close range support, or a tank with a mix between some long range and close range support.

All in all im sure i'll be playing my hunchback the most. Looks more my playstyle. It should be quick enough to stay alive vs a jenner and should have the maneuverability to hold its own vs the heavies and assaults.

Yes that is the other good news that they are the Prime Variants they not only take up that position in the Mech Trees for you to work on but they remain fully customizable in the Mechlab.

So, the Founder's 'Mechs are fully customizable in the Mechlab.

I can't choose between the Atlas and Jenner. So I got the Legendary Founder pack :)

I hope they do a good job with the pilot skill trees so there are NO best mechs. I'd really hate to see any one dominate in all situations.

The hunchback is the worst choice of all the founders mechs, as that particular hunchback (while sporting a lovely AC20) does pretty much nothing another mech can't do better, since AC20s are phenomenally heavy and limiting guns to mount on a medium chassis.

The founder's Jenner is... well, it's a Jenner. Jenners gonna Jen. Might not be the best choice for a free mech, considering it's (as far as I can tell from the images) just a reskin, and as light mech, it's the least cost-efficient use of a free mech.

The Atlas appears to have a slightly different build from the norm and has a nifty skin.

In the end, I'd say go with either the Atlas or the Catapult, but if none of those appeal to you, take the Jenner, unless that particular Hunchback has nostalgic appeal for you.

Well you can choose NOT to mount heavy ballistics and use all that tonnage for something else in the arm mounted energy hard points :)

Of the four founders mechs, the only one I have never been a fan of is the Jenner. Small and fast but not my style. Other than that, it's a style and looks thing I would think
