... almost to the hour, I boarded a plane (BA 149) with the rest of my family that would land in the early hours of 2nd August (1990), in Kuwait City and never leave.

It's been a long time and actually this year I had pretty much forgotten about it until just a couple of hours ago. I wonder if anyone else remembers that or was caught up in the incidents that ultimately led to the Gulf War.

I was in the middle of basic training in the USAF when the commander of our training squadron came into our classroom and declared we were at War and may be needed to board planes at a moment's notice.

Luckily that never happened. By the time I finished my military training school at Biloxi MS the next year, the War was over.

I did spend the next couple of years traveling back and forth from my regular duty station in Florida to Saudi Arabia, to help maintain the
No-Fly zone they put up.
