If there are not plans already for Solaris VII I think it would make an ideal background planet for practice servers. In fact the practice servers could be "based" on Solaris even if the developers plan on implementing some sort of gladiatorial combat system that impacts the game as a whole. It could be logically assumed that stable owners would be glad to allow renowned Mechwarriors (such as we all shall be) to organize "exhibition" matches in order to test potentially crowd pleasing 'Mech builds and tactics.
Just an idea.

Solaris VII as practice server.

I would rather see Solaris as a PvP server in which there are different ladders of 1v1,4,v4 , 8v8, and 12v12. It will let people that would otherwise never get to fight each other the chance to.

How is that different from what Razed suggested?

I like the idea. Solaris could be an "open server" of sorts, which is not tied to the meta-game. In other words, a place where people PvP just for fun, try different configs, etc.

And where those who want unlimited respawn and unlimited customisation can play.

I like it. Or maybe there could be a mode like 'Grinder' from Mechassault(Which was half-terrible, btw).

You could have both, maybe "ranked" matches and "practice" matches. Another idea that I had for Solaris VII was a rotating circuit of gimmick battles. Back when I played MPBT Solaris for fun we would play a game called Swat where 1 person would be their own team in an Atlas and the others would gang up on him in light 'Mechs. Things like that would be fun, and would be reminiscent of the gladiator battles of Rome.

Hmmm... never thought of this, but it seems like a decent idea.
