It's Atlas', for both singular and plural possessive. You have to use context to determine the number of Atlases being referred to. And by context, I mean "Active Beagle Probe".

Context is totally important:

Singular: "Hey guys, I think I saw an Atlas headed to base"
Plural: "Hey guys, I think I saw a ... OH $*#%! ...."

Therefore the plural of Atlas in this case is OH $*#%! :D

the ending in "i" for collective plurals, only sounds like it applies here, like octopus, or fungus. The difference is here the atlas, doesn't actually end in "us" it just sounds like it (some people would pronounce this " at - lass". So technically it doesn't apply. So I'm pretty sure the proper way to write/say/impy should be atlas'

I have to say that I intuitively knew that this was in fact the proper plural without having to think about it.

You have to consider that when someone feels instinctively what something should be called, that's probably what it should be called, and I tell you this: I felt deep deep inside me that Oh $*#%! is in fact the proper plural for atlas.

You are indeed correct sir. Other acceptable plurals would be: OH F%$#, OH H E double hockeysticks(although you may not have time for that one), and just plain $#@%. Random screaming and dying is also acceptable.

I believe it should be contextual. If it is multiple Atlas AS7-D it should be Atlases but if other variants are mixed in then it should be Atlai.

i must throw in my vote that the plural should be officially made into "OH $*#%!" after all a single atlas can be dealt with or even avoided (if it doesn't pose an immediate threat) while a group of OH $*#%! pose a much larger problem and must be dealt with accordingly.
it is also important to note that by labeling this previously unnamed group in this manner it is also possible to determine the size of said group, whereas any other form of address, previously mentioned, does not offer this same benefit, observe:

smaller group
i think i saw a group of OH $*#%!, the're heading toward our base

larger group
i think i saw a group of OH $*#%!,.....they're heading toward our base :)
(the louder and more terror filled your voice is the larger the group)

smaller group
i think i saw a group of Atlai, they're heading toward our base

larger group:
I think i saw a group of ATLAI!!!! ..... they're heading toward our base
(please note how lame and sarcastic this would make the spotter sound)
