ahhh they are so mean. another play test and they didnt even give us screen shots last time!!!!!!!!!! they are lucky melee wont be in when the game starts cause i so want to junk punch them while in their mechs... lol that would be awesome.

Were certainly not trying to be mean. But screen shots and the like will start to flow after GDC. I think I can say that much safely.

Interesting, little bit late in the cycle if its still due for release in summer. This clearly means no closed or open beta till after which again means it would be a short beta so i wonder if the game has fallen behind, or if it will be released as an open beta launch type of thing similar to Eve and World of Tanks.

Oh well come back in 6 weeks and take a peak see whats what then.

I hope it at least gets a good 2 months of closed Alpha, followed by 3 months of closed Beta until the world sees it.. then if its labeled as a "Open Beta" that would be OK. Just don't want to see the Open Beta not be able to handle the initial server load and cause problems queuing and lagging in game. If they call some of us up for Alpha testing in March, with Closed Beta in May, they could launch the "Open Beta" in August and still meet the Summer Launch window with a good product.

I have been on small and large closed betas.. and the worst launch was the ST:O closed beta, as it gave ST:O a bad name.. too many in the closed beta (Might as well been called open) that didnt know what they were doing, so they bad mouthed the initial product and buggy and broken queue system openly... They eventually got a majority of the big bugs fixed in about 4 weeks, but by then a lot of people had given up on it because they ignored the fact it was a BETA..

Of course this all depends on how far they are right now with the game itself.. But if one were to read into Russ' comments. Sounds to me like that would be a fairly good time line and fit with what he has said (Big News at GDC and a Summer 2012 release).

BTW Russ, Paul, etc.. if I am reading you guys too good.. and giving away secrets with my god given physic powers I will gladly sign a NDA for a Alpha Key and shut my trap

I've always loved the "pick apart and analyze everthing a developer posts" posts. In hind sight, some of them can be fairly accurate, and some just down right funny (Not saying anyone here is doing it, just an observation)




To figure out when beta is , it's so simple. All we need to do is devise what we know about PGI. They said they have big plans for GDC. Russ is a 4 letter name, as is the word Beta. Now, a kind developer would announce Beta at GDC and release it 4 days after the end of the convention.
However
Paul is also a 4 letter name, as is the word Troll. And we all know that he's a black hearted ******, so he'd want to push beta as far away from the forum users as possible, so he's going to want to release it 4 WEEKS after GDC, which just so happens to be in the 4th month!

They're trying to trick us, but they've fallen for one of the classic blunders, the most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less know is this. Never go in against rabid forum fanboys when Beta is online.

They've given everything away. I know when Beta is, its...... what in the word can that be?!
