If, for whatever reason, 12 mechwarriors with varied clan and IS mechs wanted to fight 12 other mechwarriors with varied clan and IS mechs in Solaris city, what would happen lore wise? Would the fight even take place? Would the dropships get there?

Also, secondary question: Would an average bolt of lightning affect/damage a battlemech?

Lightning would probably be something like a ppc hit.

Lightning conducts along outer surfaces of vehicles easily. Aircraft get hit by lightning all the time and it basically does nothing.

After the clan invasion ended, clan mechs were available in the inner sphere either from salvage, or simply buying them from the clans. 12v12 in solaris city with varied is and clan mechs wouldn't really be that surprising, it's just that the clan mechs wouldn't have clan pilots.
