This one caught my eye................Perhaps the sages of BT lore can confirm or deny this.
"The Timber Wolf's Inner Sphere reporting name Mad Cat came to be when Precentor Focht was analyzing Phelan Kell's mech blackbox. The targeting system, not having data on the Timber Wolf, couldn't decide if it was seeing a Marauder (MAD) or the Catapult (CAT), constantly switching between MAD and CAT."
