since i dont want to be a merc or lonewolf, i will be siding with one of the great houses when this game launches, however i dont know much about any of them really. i find myself leaning towards davion or steiner, but thats just a gut feeling.

anyone able to sum up pros cons of picking one over the other? or if you are a fan of one over another tell me why.

im not a huge lore guy, but it would be nice to have a little pride in who im fighting for.

Actually, read up on the Houses on Sarna.net and maybe get ahold of a House book or two and go from there.

It all comes down to personal choice. Right now there are no pros or cons for selecting houses. ie: you don't get a cheap rate on Atlas mechs for joining Steiner or you don't get the "I make wicked sushi" skill for joining Kurita etc. It's all about preference and fluff.

We get the first crack at "requisitioned" Clan tech. That's kinda like being in the Clans.

Go with Davion just for the fact that like the link said it is the closest to the USA.

Plus, we don't know for sure how the Clans will be handled at this point, so playing as them from the start may not even be possible. You should probably have someone picked out in that case, or you could just be a lone wolf.

Which is all leading me up to this. Join House Steiner, we're like the clans*, only better**.

*We both have rank determined by something completely unrelated to ability to command. And...other similarities...Okay, that's about it.

**Clan tech only gets you so far. A Ryoken would lose to an Atlas.

Great link Adridos! I have played the table top version for 20+ years, but never explored the novels much. I found some of them on audio books which I listen to on my way to work. I was trying to get a better understanding of the universe as a whole. I'm a big fan of Living Legends currently, can't wait for this however! Well nice to meet you all, see you in the trenches.

i do like steiner, heck, even saying the name with a thick german accent is fun. althought i do prefer a more militaristic approach to command structure. i can only assume steiner is based more on wealth/power/influence?

That's one of the reasons I chose House Kurita Roughneck. I also study the samurai and bushido.

Maybe some people should put together some recruitment videos? I can imagine Starship Trooper-esque media floating around that would be awesome.

I suggested that, but we have too little AAA videos with the todays technology to make one.
