Hello all, my first post on this forum, and probably last because IMHO this is too insolent from developers and i will not spend cent for this. I was alfa and beta tester in a lot of other games and i am currently beta tester in two games but i never saw this before, to pay for beta testing!!!
My suggestion would be to put proper title, for instance "PAYED BETA" instead of this, it's insulting.
Good luck to all of you, maybe will see you in some other game.

Hmmmm... rage much??
They did random Beta invites a few months ago... random to anyone that signed up for Beta... after a while the Founders Packs where offer'd for sale... eventually, they made the decision to also let players that bought one in to Beta as well... they even up'd the time to let ALL founders in by close to a week or more... meaning servers must be doing great handling the load...
So... you're a little late to the party... again, worth the rage?? Meh, your choice... Open Beta is slotted for the end of Summer 2012... no confirmed date yet but shouldn't be too much longer...
And see ME in another game... nah... I'll be here with MW:O...

LOL, good points but remember to use loose definitions for anything you are told. A specially placed word in a statement can carry multiple meanings. What you understand it to mean will surely not be the same meaning PGI has.

ARRGG why do they make me pay to get into the CLOSED beta????!!! It's almost like it's closed to people not dedicated or supportive of the MW franchise! I can only hope that they don't make me do anything else unreasonable like register with an email address for when the OPEN beta actually happens!

Well, looks like OP is raging..... To sort things out, us founders have NOT payed to get into the beta, we paid to help support PGI make a great game, getting into beta early was a bonus. Besides if you had done a thorough search, you will have found that there will be Open Beta sometime this summer.
(also like how OP has done other alpha/beta tests, thinking this should automatically get him into beta.)

To be fair to Original Poster, I can understand his/her "perception" of what appears to be "pay to play" Beta testing for a Free-To-Play game (if he/she never got a Beta invite and only just now finding out that buying a Founder's package gets them into Closed Beta).
But no, not all beta testers paid to beta test. The Founder's Packages were just something they offerred to those of us who would like to help out with costs during testing. There have been other games that lost funding right before, or right after, beta testing phase (Stargate Worlds anyone?). And to encourage this financial support, they offerred early entry into Beta Testing and in-game rewards while beta testing (which also helps them with testing player usage/decisions).
Please be patient. Even if they do not do another round of random invites to Closed Beta, theoretically, it will soon be Open Beta.

Me, paying to play this game wasn't something I minded. To be able to be part of a community of battlemech freaks and geeks who've been playing Mechwarrior since it was on bloody MS-DOS all those years back, makes me enjoy paying for something. Wether the game comes out as F2P of P2P I will not mind either way. I have my 30 dollar pack, and will be, repeat, WILL Be upgrading to legendary pack, JUST so I can put my extra money towards something that I have waited for, For so, So long.. Mechwarrior, ON pc with Cry Engine 3 tech. That is something I am willing to put my hard earned money towards. As for the Beta, it's a Closed beta, which means it's meant to be selective. Like with any other closed beta, you get selected to play, or you can MAYBE buy your way in if you aren't selected. For people who aren't willing to put their money towards something that they've been paying for in the past, that's fine. wait till it becomes F2P while the rest of us, Who love the game ever since we were kids and playing with toy robots in the back yard pretending to be Battle-mechs, Will be here, with our names going down in history, as battlemech veterans.

Hi, I'm newly-registered. Can I ask a question? Is the Closed Beta registration free of charge?
By the way, ignore that angry troll above you guys.

More to the point, with that attrocious attempt at writing, thank any supernaturals you believe in that he has gone. Guys, it's paid. There is no y or anything, just like the past of lead is led. Thankyou.
