So I have been hearing mixed things on the forum. As far as early access, does anyone know for sure know that its going to start the game off for founders so we can start grinding xp, money, etc, or is it just going to be more beta time? It seems like it could go both ways. Not sure of I should take the day off or not:p

Still closed beta.

Open beta is not yet announced (will be 'before the end of summer' but we don't know when)

don't get too attached to anything yet

Founder perks shouldn't start until the game releases, so you have the rest of CB, and OB to go first, after that, there should be one final server wipe so we all start on a level playing field.

We should get our moneys worth when the game goes live :P

Ummm this thread is a bit confusing because on the Founders Package page they have listed Aug 7th 2012 as the start of early access. If that is not true why hasn't anyone noticed that could change that. I mean its 2012 and this is by far not the first MMO, there is no reason to have false dates posted anywhere on official pages.

Early access is Aug. 7, but there will be a reset at beginging of open beta. Open beta is when our premium accounts start ticking.

Well that's why I posted this cause I got confused. Usually when games say they have early access they mean play time before the game comes out that gets saved and counts. Old republic did it. So not sure why they are calling it early game access when it should just be called beta access

This is very misleading. It's not early access if progress is wiped. Early access, by definition of other game releases, is giving you the advantage of leveling ahead of the normal players.

They really need to clarify this.

K I understand its beta. Early access doesn't mean beta play though, I have played the start of many online games and it has never meant that. All I am asking of this company is to clarify what they mean by it

So what you guys are saying is that their Early Access means something totally different from all other MMOs. Man some official should post something about how they define Early Access. To me it means that they are going to release the game. I would also say this current beta status should be called open beta because I plotted down $60 and I got it automatically. I aggree with vfv, some official should post something and clarify the status. Closed Beta > Open Beta > Early Access > Game Launch - Anything else just confuses people.

So many stickied threads available to read, to ask questions, etc

I would recommend reading them and if they do not make sense post a question.

The company has clarified this before. Here is one such example: http://mwomercs.com/...933#entry556933

Their term of 'early access' was meant for closed beat. As in "Founders will get early acces to the game in closed beta format". Until they make the announcement (and they will) that data will no longer be re-set, and your premium account and MC will start to be used, then they could wipe everything at any day they so choose.
For now, including August 7th an beyond, we are in closed beta, they will announce open beta and the day it goes live all of our closed beta XP, Cbills, MC, mechs, will be wiped to have a semi-fair playing field at first.
All of this is what I have learned from what some devs have said. Please keep in mind it can change at any time.

LOL i guess the normal progression of Closed Beta > Open Beta > Early Access > Game Launch means something different in Canada. :P I know its their baby, they own everything, I just plop $60 in their lap to allow me to play their game. Nothing is set in stone until they say so, even then it is not. Its funny how each game company does things differently, they call things different. Bottom line its closed beta until they say otherwise.

Okay, got it, so early access doesn't actually mean early access. It just means you get to pay to beta test for them. Check.

Also, why in the hell is anyone calling this an MMO? This is not an MMO. This is a mechanized FPS. /endrant

the early access they were offering was for early access to closed beta/load testing. it was not about early access to the game itself. and the earliest access i've seen in any MMO i have ever played was access at midnight for those who went to walmart and bought the software then, rather than waiting until stores opened normally, the next day. or purchasing a DL copy at midnight. not exactly the kind of early release they talked about here. as to the founders pack perks, as i understand it, all perks will be available on Aug 7th, including m-cash, mechs and such. they will also be reset to start point when the game is released. given you will not have to buy a single mech with your startup c-bills, i'm not sure how much more advantage you think you deserve. you will have cash to repair/refit all your mechs from day one, whether you win battles or lose them. those of us who can't afford a founders pack or those who choose not to buy them, will be buying a starter mech with the c-bills we get to start, then having to earn enough to keep it working, from the start. that, by itself, is a huge advantage to buying the packs. add in a 25% boost in c-bill earnings in all battles and it's a serious leg up. but apparently, some people want a week of play time before the rest of us can get there. it may not have been started as an entitlement rant, but that's what it comes off as, from the perspective of someone who doesn't currently have the option of financially supporting a game they've been waiting for for quite some time, now(ever since microsuck bought the rights).

Python, have you played online games before? Lots of games have early access that count before the real launch. For example, the old republic. They let people play a week before the official launch they also called it early access ha ha. To me early access means saved game play, not beta play that I'm sure most of us are already in anyways. Well guess I'm not taking the day off haha its not worth it
