i was lucky enough to demo a very expensive VR setup for walt disney back in the 90's and VR brings a whole new level of immersion when its done right. some say its a gimmick but i believe we finally have the hardware capable of delivering a high quality experience in a small package which was srsly lacking previously.

oculas would be nice,
but hell wheres out trackIR support like they originally said it was gunna have?
srsly tho, anyone that thinks its only a gimmick has never played a sim (racing or flight or combat aka arma)
with a trackIR that alone massivly increases the imersion factor
the oculas would be awesome

I hope it does well since if it can prove the market then the tech will rapidly start to improve. The latency and FOV improvements on this will be huge in any case.
Hawken will officially be supporting this btw.

Funny thing is the attitude you see on here with some people.. true visionaries, pioneers, people who champion progress. If it were up to you guys, rotary telephones would still be the latest fad and the only position for you is missionary, if you even get any.
With the advances now in smaller more lightweight screens with such great quality video I can see this becoming more realistic. I applaud them for trying to keep it affordable. It is in their best interest after all because if it is at a price point no one can afford or is willing to spend then their success is all but a failure from the start.

I used to play with wireless 3D Shutterglasses back in the days when i still had a analog 19" monitor running 1280*800 playing the original counterstrike (the glasses came with ELSA nVidia Geforce). At that time the display was to small to really get you into the game but the 3D effect was already that much better than anything. I used the glasses some time ago on newer games but since i switched to LCD I sometimes miss them. I always looked into VR Glasses but they were either to expensive or not good enough for my taste. Today I would love to use my glasses on a large Full HD Television but unfortunatly my 4 year old 46" TV is not capable of delivering enough images per second.
In short words: Supporting oculus rift would be the best thing you could ever do with such an game! Simply lead headtracking be used for look around in cockpit (like in a 'real' mech) and keep the controls at mouse/keyboard/joystick.
Playing with Weapon Control System left hand (speed, systems), mouse right hand (torso/arms movement) and pedals for turning together with these glasses will be a blast!
