I love the Periphery! They're the frontier, the edge of known space, the fringe. Outlaws and saloons and pirates and exiles and cults, that's good stuff! The established nations out there also take the bold step of not being feudal. Whoa. Wow. Alright, there's the Free Worlds League, but outside that, it's variations on Feudalism all the way through the Inner Sphere. Nice to see alternatives.

I've been considering forming a Merc Company, the 1st Periphery Irregulars. "They call us bandits, they call us barbarians, they call us unwanted... but we'll take their money all the same." Etc. etc. Never run a guild or anything like that, though, so I don't think I've got the skills to make it happen.

Anyways, as far as canon goes, I guess things work out okay for a few of the Periphery nations, but a whole lot of them are about to have um... bad times.

I voted for the Taurian Concordat. The coolest name, but not by much - The Magistracy of Canopus is a very close second. It sounds like a bunch of guys in hats with melons. Taurian Concordat sounds like some militant nerd collective that only cooperates because they're trying to pick up their rival's sister, and succeeding.

Outworlds alliance, they seem to be the most democratic of the bunch.

I'd rather take part in an explorer corps mission. Any route that's not 'directly into the clan invasion corridor' would do. Might be an interesting trip, with all the primitives out there...

Taurian Concordat for me. i just like how crazy they can get when they are attacked. 1 Taurian light mech vs. a company of heavies? thats a fair fight as far as the bulls are concerned! and they really should add the periphery nations as factions. as well as comstar and word of blake.
