From what I know, there is quite a number of 'Mech based games that are being (or that have already been) released this year.

The list below me is of the games that I, know of:
  • Heavy Gear
  • MechWarrior: Online
  • MechWarrior: Tactics
  • MechWarrior: Tactical Command
  • Hawken
  • Armored Core V
  • Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor
  • Reign of Thunder
  • Warface (somewhat)
  • Titanfall
  • 'Awesomer' version of MechWarrior: Living Legends
So, what about you guys? Are you excited for the next generation of 'Mech games? and what are your thoughts on the Topic?

Also, check out Titanfall, definitely worth it.

MechQuest, and Steel Sentinels are two I can think of. If they're Flash Games that is. I know that they're both browser based.

There's a new Heavy Gear game coming out? Anyone have a link to some info?

Mechwarrior: Tactical Command is an iOS game? I'd hardly say that counts as a real game.

Armored Core and Steel Battalion are console only, right? And we know MWO (and Hawken too?) is going to be PC exclusive.

Hardly what I would call a "year of the mech." Most gamers won't even notice amidst the constant deluge of generic military FPS games

I think it's very telling that a genre marked as "unpopular" and lacking sales is suddenly getting this many separate releases in the same year (give or take). Three of which are the same franchise (this one) but that's probably them jump starting a 10 year+ dormant brand.

Kind of shows how rubbish some of the things the game industry comes out with as to reasons why it isn't releasing games in genre X are doesn't it?

Don't forget that the latest (awesome) version of Mechwarrior Living Legends just came out last week too...

Looks a bit like Mech Commander from the screenshots, seems to be a year or two ahead of the timeline to MWO as I swear they had Timber Wolf's in them.

So it could, potentially be a real game. Of course it could be all waggle controls and swipe nonsense as well.

it is a shame though that heavy armor got screwed over by that kinect controller. like the game's story, mechs, and even characters and the idea for the game is pretty boss but that kinect screws up most of the time to make the game unplayable :(

Don't know if this is sufficient, but should do? It confirms the existence of it atleast.

Indeed, but you don't see to much games like this. So it's worth noting.

Yes, that is all indeed correct.

But can you think of any other year (within the last ten years) that has seen this many releases of 'Mech based games? If not, then this is the most we have seen of the Big Stompy Robot Genre in a long time.

Though it's a movie and not a game, we're also getting "Pacific Rim" this year. Giant "Jaeger" Mechs (far bigger than BT) fighting some kind of world destroying monsters. No trailers yet, but the few pics I've seen look cool and the director has a history of very visually beautiful movies.

I didn't know they were making another Armored Core.

Anyways, so what if the games are on different platforms; that might actually be a good thing, since there's mecha for everybody.

They aren't, but they already released the new AC this year.

What exactly is Mechwarrior Tactics?
Does it use the rules of the table top or does it just look similar?

All I can say is that I am so stoked to be getting back behind the controls of a mech again...I made some great friends with MW4...who I hope to reconnect with...as well as make a lot of new ones. Mercs was the first game I ever played multiplayer on...and if I had discovered how cool it could be to meet so many cool peeps (and kill them) sooner, I would have saved myself from a totally disasterous marriage. And, if we had gotten MW5 when we were supposed to, I would probably been spared this latest one I'm extricating myself from now.
I'm just getting started with this, and having to learn a few new ways of doing things...like moving my mech around. Anyhow, thanks to the Devs for getting us here, and here's my one hope for this game...I hope there will be some free-for-all battles added....my personal favorite from the old days! ...peace

From what I know (which isn't much :)), it pretty much IS the TableTop. But I'm not to sure.

There's a F2P FPS called Warface coming out. In the intro thread a Mech makes an appearance. No idea is they're playable, of how much they'll be seen.
