Hey guys,

This may seem stupid, but does anyone know when the Argus was unveiled, and does it have any chance of making it into the game in a reasonable amount of time?

I want to say 3067, so a long way off from the time frame of MW:O.

Quote

Originally designed as an OmniMech, the Argus was developed in a joint venture between Achernar BattleMechs and Robinson Standard BattleWorks and was submitted as an OmniMech to the Department of the Quartermaster which rejected the design. Achernar and Robinson modified the 'Mech and resubmitted it as a standard BattleMech that was quickly picked up by the AFFC. The Argus is built around a lightweight GM 300 XL engine that gives the 'Mech a top speed of 86.4 km/h while sacrificing some survivability. The 'Mech is built on a 1A Type 12 Endo Steel chassis that saves weight for armor, weapons, and equipment. The Argus is protected by twelve-and-a-half tons of StarGuard II armor with CASE to protect against complete destruction in the event of an ammunition explosion. The Argus is also fitted with a Beagle Active Probe which makes it capable of finding hidden enemy units and helps protect the Argus from being ambushed.

It is listed in the TRO 3067, that being said I would have to look at the readout to see if it gave any additional info, I will check back on it.

I think its 3067ish... I know that's when it shows in the TRO for the first time.

Sadly the 3067 date seems to be the best we can expect. :) Given that the Rotary AC/5 the AGS-4D sports isn't produced until 3062. :P

I will miss my Argus too. :P

No exact date, but is said to be post 3060's so 67' might be about right, direct quote from the TRO about its deployment.

Quote

The Argus first entered service on Kentares IV with the Fifth Donegal Guards, when elements of the unit moved there under orders from the Archon to suppress a "growing rebellion." Since then, the Argus has more than proven itself in battle in units up and down both the Droconis and Crucis Marches. The 'Mech has become quite popular with high-profile units like the First Federated Suns Armored Cavalry.

Hope we'll never see any of the M$ mechs in this game.

I was afraid of that :)

I saw the wiki article as well and saw that following quote:

"Inner Sphere BattleMechs – Introduction to her report on all new Inner Sphere designs of the last decade
Demi-Precentor II-Omega Francess Pryce, ComStar (17 October 3067)"

But now I realize that even then it would come out at the earliest in 3057 which in our 1-1 timeline would be 7 years from now. Sad day.

Mech racism right there. You do realize that it was people from FASA interactive, not Bill Gates, who designed/redesigned those mechs?

Way to judge designs on ancestry rather than their individual merits and/or demerits, especially with the embarrassing clusterfrag that was simultaneously going on with the tabletop mech designs, proto-mechs, LAMs, quads and stuff. MW4's new mechs fit rather well in-universe and were pretty solid (opinion).

Yes it is, some people are still upset over Microsoft and its practices... (even though apple is worse :) )

Ah, thanks so much Cattra. It is a shame what's happened to this series that last few years and to be honest I thought it was dead for sure this time. Hopefully, with a passionate fan base like us, and seemingly committed and community friendly developers - we can usher in a age to this series.

I'll miss the Argus. It always made such a nice target, you know?

That we did. Who knows what will happen though. Maybe once the clans arrive they will go to an accelerated timeline to try to incorporate some of the new mechs and tech that came with the invasion. Would seem like an awful waste of content otherwise.

Yupp, I do. They were designed for Mechwarrior without any need for new mechs.

And I'd like to call it mechism.

Thats were I disagree. Neither the outlook nor the loadout fit well into the BT universe. Though the same can be said about most post-3060 mechs.

The AGS-4D is introduced in 3061, just in time to see service in the early phases of the FedCom Civil War (Such as the aformentioned action on Kentares IV).

I suppose by outlook you mean aesthetic? And in what way does the Argus not fit into the universe?

With the new iMech you can cycle through your weapon groups with a little circular touch pad! And also they cost 5x as much as a normal Mech.
