Bloody Deep Periphery... no man's land. Where they claim Kerensky and his cronies may have fled to centuries ago...
Then again, I am pretty sure they all ran out of fuel and froze in deep space. Nothing in the Deep Periphery for any living soul except death.
[Note: Well aware the Kerensky Cluster isn't technically considered part of the Periphery, but it is pretty established Kerensky and the SLDF "passed through" on their pilgrimage/self-exile)

The Outback is the backend of the FedSuns IIRC, NOT the Lyran Commonwealth. So it would have nothing to do with the incoming juggernaut we all know about.
Instead it's related to the FedSuns general disregard for it's own Periphery side, which is underfunded, often subject to pirate attacks and whose people aren't very fond of the Davion family. Comes to a boil when Fitvelt stars seccedes successfully (they're still around during the Dark Age at least) during the Jihad.
Quite frankly, I have to side with them. They gain very little if anything by being with such a corrupt state, whose leaders are always trying to steal worlds from other nations and are lead by a man that married a barely mature girl (18) and as a weddng gift started yet another war of greed that led to billions fo deaths.
Why should they have to pay for such a scumbag's greed while their children go uneducated, and pirates attack them without any fear of repercussion?

Planetary Info
Woodbine is located in the Woodbine PDZ, in the Draconis March. It serves as the headquarters for all AFFS operations in the Draconis Edgeward Combat Theater, and boasts a Combat center training RCTs in the region. Close to the Federated Suns/Outworlds Alliance border, Woodbine is the unofficial capital of the Outback region.
The planet itself boasts a decent educational system that trains many citizens to support the various mining and ore processing industries on the world. Citizens who aren't employed there are usually employed in one of the many military support industries that produce ammunition, supplies, uniforms, and other material for the AFFS. Though the educational system is adequate for these relatively low level tasks, it is a far cry from the level of education provided on New Avalon, New Ivaarsen, or Robinson. In fact the production facilities on the world are far behind similar worlds in the Federated Suns.
Though Woodbine has been involved in many conflicts over the centuries, the presence of an extensive sensor net that covers the system has provided plenty of warning and intelligence to the defending units.

And seconded. The Davion Outback is just waiting to be developed, and all its potential is left untapped. I know that a technological recession is hard to come back from, but if they would start developing now, down the road they would receive plenty of benefits from a newly developed half they didnt have before. Its squandering resources and shortsightedness, plain and simple.

These worlds ultimately leave the Federated Suns, since they were always much more close aligned with the OA and were basically ignored by FS central government.
