I would like to know how they are going to allocate salvage in this world. I mean, if you are a Lone Wolf, and get lumped in with a house unit for a battle, does it mean that the house gets all the salvage, even if you made the kill? Everybody is talking about salvage, but there doesn't seem to much info on how it will be allocated. This could really make a differance on whether a person chooses Lone Wolf or not.

Any suggestions?
Any answers?

Also .. amd I just thought of this ... we are battling other players, not NPC mechs. What happens to the player that is shot out of his/her mech? Do they respawn with thier mech, respawn with a defautl version of their mech, or are they Dis-posessed?

If Dis-posessed, how do they earn enough credits, to buy a new Mech?

Any answers?!

Or hax into the playtests over there, shoot Paul, then demand salvage rights... He'd pretty well *have* to tell you then, wouldn't he?

Knowing the forums luck, it would just be a clone he pinned down. Not even a clone with the blood name!

It would be cool if you got salvage rights on Mechs you destroy but then again that would suck for support mechs... Eh who knows really.

lol haxing into the playtests would be funny but still it wouldnt be fair if like you are a scout. then you cant get that all of the kills so you will get none of the salvage? i think the salvage should be distributed by how much you contributed to the lance that killed the mech, so in a game there are 12 people so 3 lances. each lance would then work together to fight. if they killed a mech then the parts will be distributed among the lance mates unless they are on the team that lost the battle. the ones that lost the battle could get salvage in the form of some parts of their own mech so that they dont lose everything when they fight. if 2 or 3 lances all attacked one mech it could be ditermened what lance did how much damage and then the salvage be givin to the lances by persentage. so if 2 lances both did the same amount of damage to the mech they both would get 50% of all the salvage. if there is a tie like there are only 3 items it could be that the lance that got the final shot gets that last part.

My suggestion is to install a "point system". Let me explain what i mean:
For every action you are doing within a battle you will get "match point" for example hit an enemy mech, destroy an enemy mech but also for spotting an enemy mech. You will loose "match points" by hiting a friendly mech, ... . As a member of the winning team you will get a multiplicator for the "match points" you made. So, as a member of the team that lost the battle you will not leave with empty hands.
At the end of a battle you get your "match point" and have two options:
1st You could spend your "match points" to buy salavge parts from a "battle salavge pool" or
2nd You transform "match points" in "credit points" and with "credit points" you are able to buy parts from an undepended merchant.

With a little tuning i think this will bring out a fair salavge system for scout mechs up to assault mechs?!

So far, the devs have kept their cards close to their chest regarding salvage. My guess is that salvage has NO post game part to play. Salvage will only come in to play during battles. Not only that, salvage will not be part of the victory spoils.

Just my opinion though, time will tell.

You are probably right but I sure hope that you are wrong... Salvage was one of my favorite parts of MW3 and MW4

I am basing what I say on the interview that IGN hosted back in 2009. If you go to IGN and look up the article, you will get the flavor of what I said. I think they have something different in mind for salvage.

Paul is a Canadian, and as such, is not bound to the traditional forms of honor that dictate salvage distribution. As such, shooting him and then demanding salvage rights might only render you free medical care and some of the best darn maple syrup you've ever tasted.

All things considered, the syrup is worth its weight in salvage.

Well, when it comes to medical care, you get what you pay for, so....I'll pass.

Add some of that fine bacon from up north, and you can count me in. Ahhh, smokey, salty Canandian bacon with syrup.

Personally I think, mostly likely, salvage is going to be abstracted out to C-bill and random loot payouts. At least early on in the game's life.

I think Merc's will just get a C-bill payout based on what is in the contract. As for House warriors - they're paid to fight where and when their told, why would they get salvage?

i think we will get c-bills in exchange for value of all salvage on the field. Then the winning team gets first pick of using their c-bills to buy what they want from salvage pool. then the losing team gets what left. If their is left over parts it goes to open salvage pool aka repair shop. so others can buy and use them on open market. just my opinion.

Also Canadian maple syrup chocolate bars are awesome

As a Merc, I'm personally fine with using C-Bills to compensate for not having Salvage rights. (And there WILL be compensation) On a successful run, I should more than be able to repair and refit my Mech(s) of choice as well as have some extra change as profit for a job well done.

How about an unsuccessful one? Will you be going into combat with an arm missing?

My speculation based on some other MMOs:

Acquire random 'salvage drops' during the mission (laser optics, hand actuator, etc). Accumulate the correct components, as well as 'chassis or weapon schematics', and then craft the desired items. However, the occasional 'intact' weapon/chassis would be acquired via post-mission 'loot-roll', which everyone on the team could have a crack at (But you had better not roll 'Need' for that Awesome when your pilot build is for scouting!... unless you're a Lyran).

Neither a 'loot roll' nor 'Parts + blueprints = mech/weapon' may necessarily fit in terms of cannonicity, but it would help drive the need to consantly raid your enemies (especially if you don't want to shell out the 9,626,000 C-bills for an Atlas).

I anticipate being tarred and feathered for some of these thoughts, especialy for tossing around terms like 'loot roll'.

. However, with another month being devoted to "Role Warfare", which is the last in the series, I don't think much of my questions relate to how roles work in the game.

...but MAN do I have a myriad of miscellaneous questions... :)

Aegis, there is another month you are forgetting "Mech Warfare Month" ;)

So far we have had "Community Warfare Month" and "Information Warfare Month".
