The use of in-game currency?

I have tried (and failed) to find an adequate response to the following question:
"What is the in-game currency used for?"
Does it enable you to buy another round of Premium access?
Does it enable you to buy Mechs directly? Or do you simply convert in-game currency to C-Bill?
Does it enable you to buy "premium" equipment? (I doubt they'd do this, but still, I thought I'd ask)
Of course, I might simply be misunderstanding this "in-game currency" thing, maybe it simply means you get a certain $-amount worth of C-Bill, which you can then use on anything you want in-game, opposed to my current understanding of it (think gold in World of Tanks).
I'm strongly considering signing up to the Founder Program, but since I have no clue what the in-game currency will bring me, I can't seem to get convinced about doing so, so please, any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

The thing with IG vs OOC credits however is that there is no golden gun rule. There is no item that you are able to buy with your OOCredits that I can't purchase with my IGCredits.

I'm not even sure what you mean with ingame currency.
Ingame currency earned through playing is C-bills, which is used to buy ingame items, such asmechs, weapons and other components, nothing else.
Then there are the ingame currency you get from RL money, MC, you can use these to buy mechs and related items ingame.
they can also be used to buy non beneficial items ingame, such as new skins for your mechs.

This is usually to prevent pay to win players , MWO is all about earn it then use it . I could be wrong but we will not fully find out until its open beta or fully released .

Dear Dragonlord, I had tried to find it on my own, rather thoroughly too, I've used the search function on the forum and read through the "New players start here (please)" post as well as using "google". I had no definite answer, so I asked it here. And I've gotten a lot of decent replies. Please do not take me for a lazy forum troll. I had an honest question, and I got a couple of honest answers, that's what these forums are for I believe

As to clarify what I meant with IGC, I'm a world of tanks player, and while I was comparing the two, I wondered how the IGC translated into MWO's Founder packages, since it says, and I quote "$ XX worth of in-game currency". Did this mean you would buy C-bill directly? Or was there a sort of "premium" currency in play, like Gold in WoT. I now know that there are indeed two sets of currency in MWO as well.
Thank you all for your clarifications on the subject, much appreciated.
And evidently there'd be hats Iron Harlequin, what else would we want to spent hard earned cash on, if not hats for our Mechs?
