I have been into PC games for some years. In that time I have had 2 force feeback joysticks. The first was a Logitech Force feedback model and the second was a Saitek Cyborg FF. Both of these are now out of production along with the old favourite Microsoft Force Feedback 2. So guys, the question is, are there any (reasonably priced) proper (not counting dumb rumble effect) force feedback joysticks around?

Thus far the only ones I can find are either second hand or high price air sim specials. At over £200 they are just not affordable. Any ideas? I can't be the only one scratching my head on this one.

Joysticks have fallen out of the mainstream.

So, yeah, decent ones have gotten more expensive.

You might check out the thrustmaster 1600... and the hardware sub-forum for the joystick sticky thread.

joysticks and steering wheels are yet another casualty of the consolification of gaming.

Yeah, I saw that thread when it first came out. The only thing is none of the reviews say that any of them have force feedback. It is starting to look like I will have to just go to a normal joystick or start looking for 2nd hand.

@ Particle Man - Dead on man. Console takeover is really ruining the whole gaming scene.

Thing is, it's not just Mechwarrior - there is X-Rebirth coming up as well as a new Heavy Gear game on the horizon, so I really should get a joystick.

Damn shame my old one broke :P

ive been there they stopped makeing my thrustmaster sticks more than 15 yrs and when they stopped working i just took the handle/grip/stick off the old ones and wired them to more up to date bases cheap ones and they work fine and it was supisingly easy to do.

Been using a basic Logitech Extreme 3D for mechwarrior, earthsiege, and space sims ever since my old one broke. Sure I'd like force feedback or more buttons, but for the price...I can't really complain. Unless you really need the extra features, it might just be best to settle for something that's just reliable and easy to get ahold of.

I went shopping for a new joystick about a month ago. I checked every electronics retail store in a city of 100,000 people and I found ONE Logitech Extreme 3D joystick on a bottom shelf at a Best Buy.

Joysticks are definitely not "mainstream" peripherals anymore. Because demand is low, prices have gone back up. Simple economics really.
