My fiance has gotten into Battletech after playing the Virtual World pods at Gencon Indy. And even played a few tabletop games and liked them. Headshotting my mech in her first tabletop game definately helped.

But back to my question... I have 70+ novels and have no idea where to have her start. She reads really fast so I need a list to point her instead of hunting through all the books for timestamps and galactic references for those without chapter timestamps... and then of course there are the 10 year later books that through me off when I tried making the list myself.... anyone know? I'm not wanting publish dates, but in-story chronology.

Hey mate, found this with a google search:

http://www.stargazerserv.com/csv/btech/battletech_novel_list.htm

Not sure how accurate it is, as I have only just got into Mech warrior, but I am interested in reading these also!

I use this one as a reference as well ever since my brother had me read Main Event and got me hooked, especially to Mercs and Clanners. This is an especially good guide chronologically IMO.

WHy, oh why does everyone say BoK before Jade Phoenix? JP takes place before BoK. Gives a better understanding of the Clans.

I go JP 1 &2, BoK 1 & 2, then JP 3 and then BoK 3 that is more chronological

I want to make/find a master BT fiction list that is in chronological order. From the Star League to the Dark Ages. With Books and Battlecorps fiction.

Has anyone noticed that the Novels are no longer available for Kindle PDF on Amazon, Battleshop, and other sites? Does anyone know why Catalyst has taken these novels down?

Still are.

e.g. http://www.amazon.co...pd_rhf_se_p_t_1

As far as the novel go chronologically:

*Pre-Clan - http://csha.roosterv...ne_pre-clan.png

Post-Clan - http://csha.roosterv...e_post-clan.png

Fed-Com Civil War - http://csha.roosterv...meline_fccw.png

Dark Age Novels - http://csha.roosterv...ls_timeline.pdf

*Please note at the time of the pic, the OP did not include the Jade Phoenix Trilogy. He says

Quote

* I should note that with the release of Era Report: 3052 and its biographical entry on Aidan Pryde, it is possible now to add in the Jade Phoenix Trilogy, but I haven't yet gotten around to doing that.

I would say BoK before JP because the less you know about the clans when reading BoK the better and more enjoyable they are. If you know the story and reasons behind the Clans and the invasion from reading JP first then the feeling of confusion and panic created by the mysterious invaders in BoK is gone.

If I was making a list for a BT new comer I would avoid any books featuring the Clans before reading BoK even if they were already aware of who they are from the games. In fact I woud probably have BoK pretty early in the list as they were, IMO, the best for getting people hooked on the BT universe and giving them a good idea of the whole political side of it with all the constant betrayels and what not wheras some of the other early books were a bit poor and descriptions of the technology were not very consistant from one book to another, The Sword and Dagger springs to mind. Also being a new universe some authors did not yet have a good grasp of how Mechs would move giving us scenes more suitable to Robotech than Battletech.

Neat Timelines, I would like a more extensive one done to include BattleCorps works.
