In the time period the game takes place Federated Suns and Lyran Alliance had already signed the Fedcom Accords, which more or less for people who do not know, was a defensive pact. With that said, what I am wondering is how this will play in the faction versus faction gameplay that from the looks of it is integral to the game. My guess is that this pact will probably be ignored for sake of gameplay. Any thoughts on the subject?

Interesting. Well, mercs vs mercs is one thing, but I think if you're a player of these two factions, the faction missions would probably NOT involve attacking eachother. That is, of course, if the devs are following that specific accord in the timeline.

They have mentioned FedCom in the newsflashes... My guess is you will be houses in the same commonwealth, or you will all just be FedCom.

I'm a little surprised to hear that they are talking about it so early into the timeline. I thought FedCom wasn't officially made until 3055.

I am wondering too, as I have a friend who is playing and is rock set on being a Davion bootlicker. I could maybe *shudder* maybe stomach being a Stiener if it ment being on his side more or less without actually being a Davion.

Ew. Now I need to shower in mech coolant.

Officially, but it existed in practice since the Fourth Succession war

They could just treat these 2 Houses as 1 faction with a different label.

The Federated Commonwealth Accords were signed in the fiction in 3022. The first part of the Accords were the non aggression pact, and a secret provision for the marrage of Hanse Davion and Melissa Steiner. In 3025 at the end of the Third Sucession War the next provisions kicked in of military exchanges between the Lyran and Fed Suns officer corps, and exchange or battlemech technologies and equipment. It wasn't until Hanse and Melissa's son Victor Steiner-Davion became the Archon Prince and leader of both governments that the final alliance was completed in 3055. In the current timeframe of 3049 both governments are largely intergrated, however with specific dominion over their side of the realm.

In 3020, Archon Katrina Steiner of the Lyran Commonwealth issued a "Peace Proposal" to all of the Great Houses of the Inner Sphere; only First Prince Hanse Davion of the Federated Suns responded, and the two states began a long-running dialogue. In 3020 the two Successor States signed the FedCom Accords, a treaty which formalized military, scientific and economic exchange between the two states. However, included in the document was a secret provision, promising the marriage of Prince Hanse and Archon-Designate Melissa Steiner, which would unite the two in a vast political entity, the Federated Commonwealth. This provision would become known to the other States in 3027 during the Silver Eagle Incident.

Following the disastrous War of 3039, the FedCom would go through a period of rebuilding and integration. Learning their lesson from the war, in early 3041 the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth was officially established.

The accession of Archon-Prince Victor Steiner Davion in 3055 formally brought the nation into being, though in practice it had existed since before the Clan Invasion. Katherine Steiner-Davion seceded the Lyran half of the nation in 3057, creating the Lyran Alliance, which would lead to the FedCom Civil War in 3062.
