Hey,

I used to play Mech2 online via Mplayer. We had clans and challenges and all kinds of good times, around '98. Anyone from that era on here? What clan?

Right here. JF-Frantic-*rank*

Member of Clan Jade Falcon to this day! I can't for the life of me remember the league...I remember it had a map with a wormhole in the middle of it though.

Good times on laggy ol mplayer ;)

Some of us still play MW2 online, go over to mech2.org and download Netmech.

With modern connections is lag shooting still needed?

You mean like aiming two full mech lengths in front of a timberwolf running at speed? No, a bit of lag but not much, more like air for the left torso to hit the CT( not including travel time of the weapons)

Hah, awesome, on my way to mech2.org now. So is there a lobby of some sort, to find matches?
I was in clan Mystic Firestorm, a bunch of our guys went over to JF at one point... hell if I remember what league we were though.

IRC Server: irc.netmedia-netherlands.com #Netmech

that's where you'll usually find a few of the old mplayer guys hanging out, maybe see if they can set up a game

MPlayer and MW2...those were the days!! The start of my online play. I played with Death Jester Clan on Mplayer and some on Kali. I was even a "Wizard" on MPlayer!

They were great days.... 1998 i think
I was on Kali with the Kell Hounds [KH] heLLman.. Had an Australian group and we were playing over 56k modems. If I got a ping from Australia that was under 1000ms i was happy :) Preferred the AC20 back then and had to aim a couple of mech lengths ahead of the target. One thing i really liked was the fact that you could feather the jump jets and fly for ages... not very realistic but great for getting the jump on people.
