For example, if I change out my AC10 on my Centurion, to something different, idk, like an Clan Ultra AC5, but something that is either smaller or larger, will there be a change in game of what the gun is? I mean, there's a massivegun for the AC10, bcuz it's massive, but what about smaller weapons, does the image of the mech change depending on not only weapons but modules as well? that way vetern mechwarriors will be able to tell what a player might be using by getting a visual look at a mech...this could add another dimension to the battlefield, thoughts?

P.S. not only does it add maybe a bit of a new dimension, but also it's realistic (this is a simulator) thus maybe if you get a smaller weapon on there, the hitbox will change in size as well..not only that but it would just be cool to have completely different looking mechs depending on their loadouts ;) and if there's already a topic on this, sorry! I didn't look to see if there was :D

If we go by the Hunchback cockpit layout that they slipped us, then I would say it is a for sure thing that the actual changes to a mech are visually accounted for. I think it is nearly an industry standard that any changes to a players avatar show up in-game and can be seen clearly by in-game opponents. Look at CofD. Switching just your gun out will change the look of your fighter.

I hope the changes are reflected on the Mech simply for the awesome factor and being able to tell what kind of weapons the enemies are packing. However, they would have to strict about what you can put where, simply for design purposes i would assume.

There has been at least one other thread dedicated to this and it has been mentioned in many others. MWLL is doing it but we have no idea yet what MWO is doing.

I see this in some fashion in the game, a top notch team of gamers who know what MechWarriors want because a lot of them including the head devs are all Mech fans themselves.

I have at least a SMALL idea...

The photos of the Hunchback cockpit are fairly telling. The auto-cannon is visible from the interior of the cockpit. While that does not CONFIRM anything, I would say that it is a good clue.

From the concept art sketches that show like, 5-6 different Dragons and Jenners and such, it's pretty obvious that we'd at least have several variants.

If they can have different concept ideas and decide on "one" perhaps the ones with a smaller or different looking main gun will be used/implemented as say "the one with other weapons, an AC/2 instead of an AC/5 or a AC/5 instead of an AC/10.
