If you die and start typing something in the chat box, it will close and delete your message when you enter spectator mode.
If you try to write something when you first enter spectator mode, you can't see what you're typing, it looks like your not in chat entry mode, but you really are. If you type something and press enter it will work.
Pressing Esc when in the middle of entering a message makes the menu show up. And sometimes you can't chat right after.
Howbout devs just look at the chat junk for 5 seconds instead of 0, and figure it out. Buggiest thing ever.

Ya, this really bothers me because it's been broken forever and is just chat code, so it's really easy to not screw up this badly.
Also, for me, every time I hit escape while in chat I'm locked out of chat mode. And every time I die while in chat mode (or start chatting right after I die) I get completely locked out of chat mode. Even when I finish typing and hit enter, nothing pops up in chat. Of course, maybe you were saying other people can see your chat but you can't.

Yeah I get locked out when I press escape too. After mashing the keyboard a few times, it resumes working.
When I die, it hides the input box, but if I press enter, whatever I was typing (or part of it) shows up. Once again, after mashing the keyboard for a while, it works again for me.

I agree. It's annoying.
Especially when you type something longer in spectator mode and the mech you're spectating is shot down the same thing happens again.

It gets rather annoying when it happens time and again. Figured this would have been fixed by now but it hasen't. I understand it is Beta, but communication is key if what I keep reading is true.
