Guys, commandos, and gals. Mechwarrior is running on this engine already. Arguments are irrelevant, we have our toad technology already built in.

(commandos are people too)

Built in and used aren't exactly the same. I mean the type of detail we can get with tessellation and and pixel perfect displacement maps? That could go a long way towards helping mechs feel big in small places. Sorry folks who are happy with NES game graphics, but the better this can look the better I want it to look. It needs to play well of course, but if I can have both I'm not saying no to an awesome looking game.

Anyone else not see the difference between On/Off in the Pixel Accurate Displacement Mapping?

agree with alot of what ppl are argueing.
here is the deal the graphics can be the best int he world but if there is nothing to keep you there after the wow factor then you move on to the next thing that keeps you attention.
you could have the best story line and game play but nothing to get the ppls attention in the first place so how are they going to find out to begin to get involved with in the first place.
we can argue all dam day long this is just the truth of the matter.
what honestly needs to be done is fine tune the game play and rember what most of the ppl you are trying to get to play this game works hard for the money and for them to give it up to them they need to work hard for us .
dont make the game not include the average mans computer.
i mean make it so hi end graphic loaded that everyone has to spend 800 bucks just to play it.
but dont rob us of what we want either.
you have to have both to have a great game argue all you want its never gonna be yea i won and he loses

Let's hope there is more there than just the "hit the launch button, spawn in, move forward, kill enemy, rinse and repeat". There's enough of that out there already. So good game play is a must and on this engine, good graphics will be there .... they are already good from what we've seen so far so they can only get better.

The stuff like procedural HDR and lens flares tend to be really distracting when playing (BF3, anyone?) but I guess they could make for some good screenshots.

This was one of the worst things about BF3 - why the **** do my eyes have lens flare? Also, walking/flying/driving towards the sun was completely blinding because the flare was so large it would make going in the general direction hazardous.

It was so bad i was waiting for a sunglasses unlock.

Do you honestly think they would up the graphics and not give people a way to adjust them ? If you think that you are crazy cause there is no way any game would do that to people. I am sure they will have a setup so the people that don't want or cant afford to upgrade their computers can turn down the graphics enough to play. Hence why they put requirements out there. Now if people wont atleast get the min. requirements to play the game then they have no one to blame but themselves cause they have made it clear what people will need.

As one of the people with a high end rig, i would love to play games that look that good, it really ups the experience for me, hence why in skyrim i have 100+ mods with most of them being simple graphic enhancement mods. I find good graphics really do make a game feel better. Lets be honest, it is really awesome when it looks so close to real that you can see, in high detail, the armor being blown off, things on fire, water ripples and splashes all that kind of stuff. not to mention it makes for good poster shots and advertisements.

For people with lower end rigs, just make a scale that disables some of the high end graphics, like pretty much every new game that has come out has.

Let me tell you, a total system upgrade is something you will not regret if any part of your current rig is over 5 years old. Playing with what you got is something you will regret.

I like that if that didn't include battlefield style 3 glare and effects all over my screen in the name of "realism"

I recently upgraded my PC (see below) to play BF3 with all the bells and whistles. I can play it in "Ultra High" settings and still get 60 FPS, but I turned it down to high because I couldn't see anything! It is jaw-droppingly awesome though. /e-peen measuring

MW:O is quite pretty already and I don't think that it would benefit greatly from too much more added detail because the action is all relatively far away (the ground is 10M away, directly underneath an Atlas). Maybe some hapless civilians and wildlife to scatter and remind us how huge and terrifying a battlemech really is. And those nice environmental touches like rain down the viewport etc. that always enhance immersion so much. I'm sure all these things are in the works along with bigger maps and longer draw distance.

My system specs:
Intel i7-2600K
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
8G 2133 G.Skill Ripjaws-X
2x Gigabyte 6970 2GB OC GPU in Crossfire
120 GB Sandisk Extreme SSD
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
Thermaltake Meka G1 and Theron Mouse
Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

1. Keep JJ Abrams away from the lens flares
2. Did anyone else expect the toad to get crushed by someone rapelling form the chopper?

Well they at least have room for expanding and enabling/add more of the visuals and features somewhere down the road as the builds get optimised and more stable.

Best thing about it being online, is they can update it all the time, bring in the extra graphics features later on, the engine scales so you can always not use the features if your machine can't handle it

I am all for better gameplay, and features, but the graphics is what's going to draw in the new players

If that's all the game is at launch, as much as I love mechs, I can't see me being around for long, already getting a bit bored now :(
