True, but I can make pretty much whatever I want using the CNC router table. Might be a little more work but it is a tool that I already have.

10-4. CNC machines are sooo nice. It makes project building much simpler. Sorry to derail your thread.

Hmm, ascetically it doesn't really fit with Battletech per say, but it's a fun idea none the less. I would prefer to go to an Army surplus store and get a cheap ejection handle/system for a jet fighter and then rig that, since it would be similar to Sarna's documentation of eject equipment. From a startup/shutdown it's more of a flip switch with cover.

Ramm: Thank you sir. Depending on where you live in Michigan you can come by and pilot it sometime. I live just north of GR

Steelwolf: Use an old fashioned knife switch

I WAS JUST IN MICHIGAN! AWWWWWWW DAMNG IT! I was on a road trip with a buddy of mine, and we stopped in East Lansing TWO days ago to play some Mech pods. We are actually planning on building our own, which is how I found this site/this thread just today. Well, that is how life works right?

And if you want true immersion, you need several forced air, probably ceramic element, space heaters with controls hooked to your PC and a thermostat. When your mech hits high heat levels, the heaters kick in. Jump the temp in the box to about 80-85 in a few seconds. Just high enough to be slightly uncomfortable.

HA! I am from California (no name place just south of Death Valley), 80-85 degrees is winter for me! Whould still be cool to have environmental controls like that...

Looking very excellent there, propnut. I like your idea of a free standing simpit. I would like to try building one myself if work didn't involve me travelling so much.

If only a portable design was feasible.

Anyway keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to the end result.

Perhaps one built into a trailer like the small U-Haul hitch trailers?
