Would you like to see Death From Above (DFA) implemented in the game?

  1. Of course! I love the idea of jump jet kamikazes at enemy mechs! (73 votes [98.65%])

  2. No. If I shoot their weapons off, I don't want them to still be a threat... (1 votes [1.35%])

Ok I really want to pilot a dropship but it would just be wrong to be able to land on someone.

so are you planing your next Mission? Not sure who you can trust? Please consider using McKools Cattleraiders for you dropship needs!
your designated driver Finn always there when you need him, always sober, and dont forget a free steak meal for those who make the ride home.

Its a cruel universe out there

Again a good topic!

I believe DFAs should be allowed...HOWEVER:

1. Stiff penalties should be enforced for a failed DFA.
2. Make it a special branch of training...

Harrow, why do you 'like' all of your own posts....

And good point Felix. If you are going to build up enough speed to damage a 'Mech, the hard impact after you miss should cause leg damage as well.

It seems that 42 Mech Warriors enjoy a bit of aerial tea bagging... While none can get behind a world without foot to face action.

Just goes to prove that pilots are an intellectual & above all, good natured bunch.

The problem with DFA is that you have to divide the damage inflicted into two parts - the damage caused by physical impact and the damage caused by jumpjet exhaust. If you barely make it up over your opponent's head and axe the jets, then you'll gently plop down on their shoulders. That's not a kill! You'd just make gentle contact, lose your balance, and promptly fall over onto your face/back of your head.

If DFA was implemented properly, you'd have to put some height into your drop to make the impact more substantial, which will cause some amount of leg damage to you, or you'd have to fire up your jets right as you land in order to torch their cockpit.

I am all-for the JumpJet welding technique.

We could go the other way...

Mech lands on mech, they both fall over into a tangled mess allowing anyone & everyone to wander by & take pot shots...

There could even be a mini game where the pilots get out & break out the Marquis of Queensbury rules...

Everthing I just typed should probably be ignored.

First toss 'em to the ground and then jump on their heads. DFA for all (with jump jets :D ) I want to ride my Highlander *sing* , right in your face *muahaha*
This reminds me on Asterix in Great Britain whom else?

Of course both should get damage if you use this methods (DFA or charge), otherwise it wouldn't be fun and everyone does it. And I don't see so many people flying along oO and of course it should be manual and not autopilotted, what a crazy idea oO

Looks like DFA is in :D

Now we wait for Combat Mechanics Month and see if they'll let us weld cockpits with jumpjets :o

Imaginable.. i might add:
1. A damaged/crippled mech is harder to navigate. In the air - more harder.
2. Make it a manual flight. DO NOT make it an autopilot flight driven by some computer! It must not hit 100% the time! Otherwise it spoils gameplay. An enemy shot down is an enemy shot down. Rest in pieces.

And besides...SHOULD BE A BURDEN to prevent kamikaze debils falling from the skies in every minute! For example doing this WILL 100% surely prevent your clan from salvaging your mech at the end of the battle.

Oh, but the respawning method kills this idea.. so, here we go again. Grinder.

note that if u are in a last resort ditch effort this is gonna affect you. :D

DFA doesn't have to be a big drop, a highlander does a great job of introducing most mech cockpits to the ferrocrete with a short hop.

Now if we get DFA, can we get some charge damage?

Don't mind me, I'm still waiting here with my Hatchet, and a tactical nuclear device ready to blow if the Devs say no.

By the way, read the Dev reports in the future.

"Charging – A special attack that allows the pilot to drive their BattleMech into an enemy BattleMech without sustaining too much damage"

So from the looks of it, until you level that bad boy up, no charging for you.

Seems the DFA damage reduction comes after that.
