[Weird Beard]

Though the clans don't actually begin invading the Inner Sphere proper until March of 3050, their invasion of the periphery in now well under way.

Little news will filter into the IS for some time yet but on August 13th, Phelan Kell of the Kell Hounds is captured by Clan Wolf while on The Rock. This is a major historical event as he will go on to earn a bloodname and eventually lead the Wolves in exile.

I'll bet becoming a loyal Wolf Clanner was the last thing he ever intended to do in his life. Ironically, he still ended up on Arch Royal with the rest of the Kell Hounds as a Wolf in Exile.

The months of interrogation, and neural whips from Vlad, and sex. He got the better deal in the end. His girlfriend killed Osis and pretty much saved the Inner Sphere by giving them time to catch up - as little as it was.

Barring that terrible, terrible, ridiculous plot nonsense that was the Jihad - I do not recognize this or anything after 3067 as canon.

Which is your opinion, of course, and you have that right.

Fortunately, what each of us thinks does not determine canon. That has already been established (which is what canon means), and the Jihad and everything after 3067 is canon, wether we happen to like it or not. I certainly would have preferred it if the Clans had never been introduced, but that was what happened. If we all tried to nit-pick history, we'd end up like the United States Congress; unable to do anything because we were too busy arguing over who got to make the rules.

Of course, no reason the events in MWO have to follow canon. It's just as possible Phelan Kell was summarily executed (as he would have been under normal circumstances by the Clans), and will never be heard from again in the MWO timeline. We will just have to see. As long as MWO is not bound by canon, it doesn't -have- to follow the history exactly.

Lincoln Osis was killed by Victor Steiner-Davion on Strana Mechty.

Phelan's GF, Ranna Kerensky, probably wasn't even there for Osis' death; Phelan was apparently in the CSJ invasion corridor/DC space at the time, and she was probably in the same area.

Ah, yes.

Though, I had taken Hohiro's post to mean that Osis' death (at Victor's hand) had "saved the IS" by giving them time to "catch up" to more advanced Clan/Star-League level tech in time for the WoB Jihad.

But, yes - Tyra (though, arguably Phelan's ex by that time) did buy the IS a year-long respite during the Invasion by taking Showers out.
