Ah, the good old Mauler. Actually if they were willing to, the devs could put it in this game. There's no real definite time it came out, only it was seen on the proving grounds in 3050. Add in the engine of suck that was the Daboku which came out in 3038, and I think one could get the mauler in MWO with little trouble

Never been a big fan of it personally. Give me a Highlander any day, or a Kingfisher :D

I would like to second the desire to have a Highlander.

Personal favorite 'mech in all of Battletech (and by extenstion, Mechwarrior)

Kingfisher is a good choice too I will admit though. :)

If it isn't stock or one of the official variants, is it really a Mauler?

The Mauler-3R variant was a production model and was pretty good... I hate the standard variant though. I wonder if they will let this one in considering the true Mauler was not in production until 3052... of course I can seem them fudging the date a bit with Daboku for the fans if necessary. Personally I am fine without it for a few years... Would be interested to see the redesign.

I Love the Mauler...I fought most MW4 Mercs in one

MY mod 2 Clan AC/LBX-10s (extra ammo each) Torso Mount, 2 clan PPC's arm mounts, and what ever Missile package fits the mission

I too rather like the Mauler, and I typically don't pilot Assault 'Mechs, though occasionally the situation does warrant it, although I prefer my custom chassis to any of the stock variants: drop the LRMs to 10s, replace the 4 AC/2s with MPLs, and put a Gauss Rifle in each arm with 2 tons of ammo each.

I could have sworn the Mauler was earlier than 3050. The mech had a flaw that caused a non pilot initiated ejection when ever it was hit in a certain area and the Fed Suns took a bunch as salvage unaware of this. The Combine eventually rectified this flaw.

This is one of those things that make me cringe when it comes to lore/canon - The Mauler is only made ("around 3050") by the Luthien Armor Works which is based on Luthien, a planet in the Draconis Combine. Would seem a bit suicidal to export these to an enemy House or supply these to a MercCorp before your own front line units were upgraded. But the devs said "everyone love everyone" so what the heck, everybody gets a new shiny!

That was the Daboku (Mentioned above), http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Daboku , which was a design created to coincide with the 1st Sommerset Strikers sourcebook conflicting with the Mauler's TRO: 3050 original background information.

Ah the good old Mauler. It has a varied history, starting from the Linesman to Daboku and finally the Mauler. I usually rip the ACs off though.

If you really need the reach of AC2s, drop 2 of them and upgrade the remaining 2 to ultra variants that pretty much do the same thing. After that pad more armor and maybe heatsinks :)

That earlier version was the Engine of Fail known as the Daboku. It sucked. overheated like noone's business and if it got hit hard enough the pilot got ejected
