We have seen a few maps now, my question (idea) will we have a random generated map for each battle we fight during the meta game ( merc aspect) of the game...

The amount of resources it would take and the coding for the randomizer in a way that it's still balanced would be INSANE.
Besides, it might give a random advantage. Say, one team spawns at the top of a forested ridge and the other team spawns in a flat field far away from cover.

While the generation of random maps is near trivial (e.g. through the use of perlin noise), random methods lead to unbalanced maps in most cases.

Would give the game a longer life, and be a cure for the "bored of the same maps" disease.
It could offer a random advantage to a group, but as its name says, it would be random.
Is not like Team red is going to start inside a low terrain crater with one small way out, and Team blue is going to start on high terrain next to the crater exit, like sometimes happens when playing Empire total war.
This way scouting would have a new dimension, since you could not plan before hand what to do ("going cave" or "follow me to river" for example). After all, when a force lands on a new planet, they need to scout the areas and for that they either use aircraft, light mechs or any available intel.
Playing always the same premade maps takes away the feeling of "dont know what lies ahead" and for some players ends up being very tedious.
Definitely a great thing that most likely wont happen.

From a mill background i can honestly say that you never have the battlefield that you want, You make the best of what you have.
My Idea would be to have 8/10 types of map
Desert
Tropical
Urban
Ultra Urban
Industrial
Riverside
Mountainous
Ravine
They would form the background to map. It would then generate a map with a random setup. I.e More high risers or a diff road layout in the urban map etc. The basic form is the same but some features always differ.

As if you're dropship is off target.
