I think there should be some kind of stats or mvp for the role your mech is playing , they must already have a system to add points for the skill tree.

say a scout fulfills his role flawlessly even though the team loses??

If it was to judge who is the most valued player on a team? that we already know would have to be the player controlling the DROPSHIP
What could be more important than the proper timing of pickups and drops , not to mention the risk to ones own ship to do what? but serve his Employers (team)
