First of all let me preface the following statement that I in no way wish to disparage the work of MekTek and their support of MW4... So much fine work with an aged game engine and a flawed design.

That said, one thing that made me wince a bit with a lot of their new content was the presentation of mass and scale. While I'm not going to sit here and specifically call out various Mechs, I can say that from both ends of the spectrum be they light or assault, a number of Mechs visual representation did not match their proposed tonnage and or were disproportionately too large or small comparatively... Not to mention the scale of their environments, i.e buildings, fauna and the like...

While we obviously have not seen any recent in-game media. Based on the available art work and color prints... as so far, all present designs meet this criteria IMHO... So I'm just throwing this thought out there! :P

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm pretty sure the concept art isn't set to scale, so that 'Mechs may be represented with the most detail possible.
Edit, I suppose it would be nice to hear the developer's word on this, though.

I posted this is another thread, but heres a side by side line up of the concept art. Pretty damn close to scale,,,even for just concept art. If anything, Dragon and Jenner might be a tad big, and catapult bit small.

But I definately agree with the OP, please keep scale for mass and volume of mechs. Its not just for athestics, but helps a lot in balance. Don't need useless, over sized barns or speedy gonzalez mechs that you can never hit.

I think maybe it's time for a new background on the concept art. >.>
I'd suggest something snowy since it's winter for me, but then when spring comes around I'd have to ask for cherry blossoms and that just ain't gonna happen.

Okay. It might happen. But only for Draconis Mechus! I'ma dorifto mah Jenner!

Why doesn't the dragon have a buddy in the background?

I second this. I was playing MW4 Mercs and I was thinking about how funny it was to have an Atlas running at full gait and collide into a light Mech, only to come to a startling halt. One would assume that the light Mech would at the very least fall over, and more likely than not suffer some sort of damage. Its little things this that really stand out in a game. Anymore, a game with poor physics just looks silly.

I would hesitate to use that as a judge for how they'll scale the mechs. It's just a common backdrop for the concept art.

I would too except they look so close to actual scale I doubt its coincidence.

In a play test the other day... I had a light mech run up to me in an assault, and I couldn't shoot him cause he was too close and too short...

Which tells us, possibly, that there are more mechs coded than what we know of.

Notice he said "In an assault" not "in an Atlas". Pay attention here folks!

You know... just because we released a picture of the flamer doesn't mean you have to go through the forums lighting everything I say on fire! B)

He also said "had a light mech" instead of "in a Jenner". B)

I envisage a world in which all Assault Mechs are boxed in by 4 Light Mechs, unable to even move a foot as the plucky little Mechs hug tight to the blundering tank's chunky thighs. Every now & then, firing a Small Laser at the left or right knee...

I promise I only enjoy winding up those who deserve it...

And thus he illustrated the need to be able to drop kick that leg humping Urbanmech. I'm sure he doesn't let his dog do that to his guests, no sense in letting one of his mechs do the same. B)

A light mech in an assualt ran up to you?..and he was still too short??? The scale is worse than I thought....
