So this is a thread dedicated to why you chose to join a particular group. Roleplaying is encouraged, but not enforced. That being said, sit down, get a cup of joe and talk with other mercenaries in the imaginary Bar known as... Presto, where the mug is always warm and the beds are always cozy, off I97 on the planet Ramdao. Also, you can post your guild advertisements in this thread, but please keep it to a bare minimum.

I joined a merc corp, because I have always enjoyed the mercenary versions of Mechwarrior more than the others. I joined the Blazing Aces after reading their recruitment page because their play style describes me to a tee,

I have never played any MW game against anything except AI, I have played Americas Army online, a multiplayer PvP and enjoyed being a member of a group there where command was very important, so I will start like I did there, get in and play until I run across a group of mercs I like and then there I will stick :D

I know ill be in a merc unit simply because thats where its at! Getting paid big bucks to blow up someone elses enemies! You never run out of targets that way, and if you kick their butts, they might be the next employer... nothing looks as good on your resume as your unit demolishing several of theirs!!! Besides, house units can be stuffy and have to do what their ordered to do, at least we mercs get to choose whos telling us what to do! I'm prolly gonna be hooking up with the old mw3 players from my WOT clan... but... if not i may be out writing my resume on some of your guys's windshields till I find a unit that suits me... Hope they eventually bring in the clans... hope headshots are effective in this one like they were in mw3!!

I founded Wolf Spiders around our prior experiences and friendships. We played together for a long time, and have remained friends for over 12 years. We share a common passion for competitive team play and personally I really enjoy that experience and would accept nothing less.

I have been with BWC since 2002. I cannot fathom gaming without/outside them.

Merc unit seems to be the way to go, I like the idea of picking my bosses and choosing who i defeat. I have had a few bad experiances in clans/factions when leaders have had issues.
I'll play alone or as a merc.

Never liked the houses much. Clan are not in game yet. Seriously thinking of staying IS after seeing all the idiocy regarding clans too. Too many bloodnames showing up on the forums[you do not just get a bloodname, you earn it]. Too many "Where is the Madcat/I love the Madcat" threads. I wish to alienate myself from that. So mercenary it is for me. Thankfully I got in with a kickass crew. Good times and lots of laughs, without the grabass to make it unworkable.

BWC is still recruiting and wanting more.

The Taurian Concordat wasn't an option in faction selection so I started my own merc corp. Until the Concordat IS an option I will continue to play as a merc (20% surcharge on all contracts for House Davion).

Can't stand the Houses, and can't join the clan yet so merc it is. Probbly stick with the group I'm with now even after clans arive, besides I like smaller groups since everyone knows you and you know everyone else.

Now if only the monkey would let me change the channel. >.>

I haven't yet but I am desperately trying to do so before the 7th - I suspect my reasons are much the same as the rest of the prospective members:

Don't really enjoy the Houses but conversely do enjoy being part of an organised unit because regardless of the game it adds a whole new layer of enjoyment and complexity.

Perhaps I'll find a unit that's a fit for my personality.....;)

*runs a finger around the rim of his beer glass*

Well, to be honest, none of the great houses was willing to pay me enough. Then I fell in with a group of like minded individuals who while serious, aren't too serious, run a tight operation and aren't constantly in your face about you joining with them because they're going to be the best.

*Picks up his glass as he turns to face you*

Beware the Quiet Pony

*Finishes his beer, placing the glass back on the bar, stands pulling up the collar of his coat, pulls the brim of his cap down over his eyes and walks out of the bar into the pouring night rain . . . . *
