Canon vs Non Canon.

I personaly am more on the canon sid, but then I have played Battletech since it first came out in the 90's. I have noticed that alot of the non canon supporters are people more used to the later MW video games, I can respect their opinion.
If anything I think certain things should remain in place I.E: The Wolfs Dragoons are not involved in any Inner Sphere conflicts at 3049, They are on Outreach geting ready for the Clans return. Once the return happens The Dragoons do not get involved until 3051 when they have the meeting on Outreach. The first military action the participate in is on Luthien at the request of Hans Davion. This is an example of something that should not change because it is a major turning point in the Clan War. As such the names of the units should be locked.
However this is our game to play and the Devs game to create and as such let's not bicker over things we have no control over and enjoy it when it starts.

*feeds the troll* Nikon all the way.
Non-cannon gets you things like the MechAss games. (mech assault). Remember the giant ungly *** hybrid atlas/living growth man baby at the end of Mech Assault 2? http://youtu.be/lV4blPURxRA
Yes. None of that.

Not one to post much nor one to poke a stick at people, but you did mean Mech Warrior and not BattleTech. Not that that would be correct anyway as MW was first published in 1986 let alone BattleTech which predates it to 1984. As someone that states they perfer canon please have your dates right.
Back to topic I would prefer canon my self, but I am flexible.

My bad, It was in my HS days... 87-91 and there have been many years and many beers in between those days and today. I first started playing tabletop with the 3050 sourcebook and was happy to play the original Mechwarrior on my old HP 386.

but i have no illusions that if it needs to be changed/edited/removed it should not even be questioned
Battletech is over 25 years old
have a think about what technology we had back then and how it influenced every single aspect of Battletech
the product they built was based on 80's standards and minimal resources
do you guys really believe they managed to get the universe that they could see in their heads out onto paper ?
do you think their awesome visions and imaginations have changed ? perhaps yes but i would only say in clarity and detail
imagine if Battletech was never created and they set about making it today
the trailer they launched a few years ago showed us that
i say if the cannon dosnt fit throw it out
replace it with a new shiny part that performs the same function
and this is what im talking about
RUBBISH !

AMAZING!

im sure the orignal designer saw something like this jenner in his head but had no way to get it out
so i say stop complaining everytime they announce something new and let them build us the game they have always wanted to make

Canon means information based off of the history of the Batletech Universe from the book published prior to the MW games, as far as I am concerned.

Not trying to be a ****, but back when the TRO 3025 was first published, this artwork was not considered rubbish. In fact, it was pretty cool for the time, and we should all be thanking Duane Loose for his artistic vision, because we had way more Mech designs to pretend/imagine/play with than the seventeen or so 'Unseen' mechs that originally came with the game.
Think on it this way... twenty-five years from now, when some game company is producing their holographic Battletech games, someone may very well post one of FD's digital paintings and say, "This is rubbish!" They'd be totally wrong, but who knows what artwork will look like in twenty-five years?

The joy of a Reboot, is that Non cannon can = cannon. Its a reboot and there is room for improvement! Just as long as PGI does not 'Re-do' everything.
