Damn the founder mechs!

Why did there have to be three types I like in the list and I can only afford elite... :) Wish you could test drive each one before making the final decision.

First world problem, I know.

I do have an actual question though. I've looked at the loadouts the variants have, but I didn't find the info for the catapult. Can anyone tell me what's on the catapult?

I think you can buy Veteran and upgrade to Elite before they close the founder's stuff. If you want elite right this second, I'd personally recommend the Atlas.

If your curious in mechs, you can pick up mech4 for pretty cheap and test them all out.

Um... Go Veteran to get into beta, test the different 'mechs, then upgrade to Elite when you've decided?

Just a thought, really. I went legen- wait for it -dary because I couldn't decide and my wife doesn't know I spent the money.

Sympathies for the cashflow issue.

Without breaking the NDA, I can say that the loadouts on the founder's mechs have been publicly stated to be pretty close to the canon builds.

If I were in your shoes:

1) Rather than concentrate on what the mechs carry in terms of loadout, I'd think about my play style - do you like to play as a scout, a brawler, a heavy brawler, or an indirect fire/support mech?

2) If possible, I'd take StormFist's suggestion, and start out with Veteran. You don't get a founder's mech, but the founder's mechs are _identical_ to the regular variants. So you can compare.

Joint account... Ender of dreams. :)

I might take that suggestion or pick one and buy the other later with the in-game creds.

Beat me to it. Buy the veteran, try out the mechs with your starting MC, then upgrade to elite.

Most popular elite mechs: 1. Atlas 2. Catapult 3. Hunchback 4. Jenner

I was looking at:

1. atlas 2. hunchback 3. catapult.

I will get a light mech, but the Raven is my favourite there.

I went with the Jenner. TBH I'm not really in love with any of the founder mechs, but I wanted to support PGI and the other stuff it comes with in my opinion is a good value. I think that in the future you probably won't be using your founder's mech as much when we gain access to new mechs and variants.

Most people will steer you towards the Atlas and with good reason, it costs the most out of anything we've seen so far, so you're getting more bang for your buck if you do that. However the Catapult is arguably the coolest looking and the most versatile.

The cost of the mech would arguably make the atlas a good choice.

I can apreciate the play style argument to some extent, were it not that it varies a lot according to what I feel like and what sort of game mode I'm in. I've watched, and read about what's there at launch. I expect i'll be brawling or scouting.

Mostly I want to show my support early on to a game which i've been looking at (passively) for some time. I used to love the mechwarrior and mech commander games. ( I still remember the first time I saw that Mad Cat on the cover of Mechwarrior 2. ) Never played the tabletop more than once with a friend. But that's because I wasn't much for tabletop games. :)
