Apperently, the mars rover "Curiosity" Has zapped 30 times over 10 seconds with 14 millijoules of energy in each pulse, Great job NASA, Now we just need bigger ones and PPCs, Get to it Science!

One step closer to a Battletech arsenal!

Sounds like the very first pulse-laser

Someone document it before it becomes lostech!!

I'm disagreeing with very first ... trust me we got lasers of the proper power ... hell even size if we REALLY worked it ... only problem is heat and (more importantly) a large enough power supply for it to be mobile.

Battlemech lasers are rated in the low gigajoules.
Only 5 orders of magnitude to go!

Call science! Tell them to make a really REALLY big version of the laser on the rover, say its for... Uhh... Research Mining!

Electrolasers would be more feasible, better known to BT fans as PPCs.
Do not tell Clan Hell's Horses about this. We do not need a badass OmniTank named Curiosity (although Opportunity would be cool, that thing is immortal)
