Fun little game, and it really makes you think too. Basically, you get to be in control of a space program for the Kerbals. You can make orbiters, space planes, satellites, rockets, and a couple other things. The game currently in Alpha I do believe, so more stuff will be added in the future. You can land on the "Mun" if your good, and it is also possible to orbit the sun. Although I haven't even managed orbit yet.

Because it properly is designed for children and don't forget the children now growing up are going to be the future space explorers etc

I'll give this ago when I'm on my computer

Kerbal Space Program is great. :) I've been playing it since version 0.19.

Version 0.22 is out now. It includes a career mode. I just picked the game up a couple of weeks ago and have been hooked.
I would think there would be a lot of overlap with MWO and KSP, as both involve custom builds of giant pieces of machinery. Both include complex and deep gameplay.

KSP is designed to be non-violent, yet people still find a way.

i have like 30 satellites in that game and one extra-solar probe.

In my game, the Mun is strewn with the freeze dried pieces of brave Kerbals, and fragments of their space capsule.

After stranding 2 guys on the Mun without enough fuel, I brought in a flying gas can and docked with their craft on the ground to transfer fuel (no mean feat). It was just enough to get their ascent stage to a 5000 meter orbit for orbital rendevous with my rescue capsule. Unfortunately, while setting up the rescue capsule, the Mun continued to rotate, which placed a 6000 meter mountain in the path of my ascent stage. Apparently, 6000 meters is taller than 5000 meters. Splat.

Career mode definitely breathed a lot of life into the game! For science!

And if you're playing KSP non-violently, you're doing it wrong. ;)

Bought it, modded it with about 30 mods (now it takes forever to load, even from a SSD o.O) and had about 100 hours of pure fun.

Very very nice game!

Caution: If you are an engineering/physics/math/rocketry type that likes building things this game can turn into a serious time vampire :(

According to steam it has taken over 800 hours from me since only August!

wow...

Christ. I realized I may have gone too deep when I was playing this with a scientific calculator app open on my phone, so I could do course correction calculus on the fly...

At least I saved Jeb from his heliocentric orbit (first Mun attempt, I somehow slingshot him out into orbit around the Sun). Had to send a rescue ship out, but realized with some calculations I didn't have enough delta-V in the rescue probe, nor in his original ship to get a Kerbin intercept. Ended up pushing Jeb's ship with the rescue craft until fuel ran out, then pushed with RCS until monopropellent ran out, and that gave just enough so Jeb's ship should make it back.

That's a real Apollo 13 moment right there! Should have recorded it!

Made it back to Kerbin with 66 m/s of delta-V to spare! Talk about going on fumes.
