Wuz just thinking the other day and for the year and the tech that would be involved in building a mech that the cockpit would have a little more advance systems in the way of sensor tech and situational awareness. Now I understand it needs to be quick to use in a game play aspect but in a sci fi world there is a lot of room to play with.
Be nice to see some cool factor added to the cockpits cuz I think that was a lacking area in all the MW games or am I just hangin out on a limb by myself here :D

Well, in the canon, the cockpit of many 'mechs have a holographic view screen. Almost all of the 'mechs have a view screen which gives them a 360 degree view around them but, it is compressed into a 180 degree arc with colored bars to seperate front, flanks, and rear. Some 'mechs had multiple foot pedal controls for various jump jet functions while others used full telemetry gloves for detailed manipulation of the hand actuators. All of course used an advanced nueral interface helmet which allowed the pilots' owned sense of balance and agility to translate to their 'mechs' movements. Some 'mechs cockpits were large enough to install a dedicated airlock, space shuttle type toilet system, or even a detachable command and control isolation shelter. Most, however, were described as being just barely big enough for the pilot. The Stinger was said to be so cramped that the pilot could squeeze into it but, they needed their tech's assistance to get back out.

I for one wouldn't mind the 360 degree view screen idea but, that would be too hard to pull off on your monitor or TV.

Thats a nice layout. Shouldnt be to hard to use either, since Im already use to the complicated A-10 cocpit layout. Cant wait to try it out in game.

the cupholders are made out of a new secret alloy and they would have had to shoot the photographer if he included it in the shot

I am sure there will be monitors and Flashing lights and real time readouts. Its the future though, we have those things now. We ought to expect more from the super cockpit of tommorow. My thought, all the normal stuff, plus a really awesome chair, and a soft serve machine. Thing about it, down an enemy Mech, get some soft serve. Its motivation even the most brain dead Future Peasant in a robot can follow.

The cockpit is apparently the new HUD.
And it is filled with monocromatic LCD displays.

I've never really felt compelled to invest in a multi-screen set-up but I might have to for this game.

The Battletech pods are a blast to play in. My son spent an entire weekend of a convention in those things. I think he played like 50 games or something. At the end of the weekend, they held a ceremony for him, gave him a patch, medal, and made him a member of the league.

Its close, its DCS: A-10, from the same guys who made Blackshark and flaming cliffs.

This is a multiscreen setup for A-10. Figure if it works with a game like this, they MWO should be able to do it too. There are also setups where people are using IPAD for the MFD's, and some companies also produce little screens to use as MFD's also. So itll be interesting to see what MWO can support

Along with that, this is the joystick I use for A-10. It mimics the real A-10/F-16 control sticks, and has lots of little buttons and crap. While its designed for flight sims, support of this would be great as well. While it might not match the joystick used in the picture of the Hunchback cockpit, it is close. And with all the switches on your hand, you would be able to control more, and a lot faster too.
