while I asked for permission for a shiny new computer (for all my gaming) I didn't have to ask for to get the legendary status... she just doesn't know I paid 120 bucks for it /cough

I am not ashamed of it either!

P.S. Quit mocking his over priced Alienware... at least he has the money to not only get it, but his wife not care that he did...

Those who voted "Married to a wonderful spouse who supported spending $120 + a new PC to play MWO" are f****** liers! ;)
Take it from a married man...ouch! just got slapped on the head by my wonderful wife...

Actually, I'm pretty close to that myself. And I don't know why...my addiction to Civilization 3 a few years back almost cost me my marriage.
I get to play a couple of hours everyday at night, so she gets to watch whatever she wants on the ***** box (lol). It works great this way.

For you younger lads out there, you get this cynic attitude toward marriage over a few years (less if you have kids)
Funny how after seeing this poll my 39 years feels soooo old!

P.S. I can't believe the forum censored the word 1d1ot!!!???

You need a selection for "divorced" for those of us whose wives made us choose between them and gaming.

Ask and you shale receive. I did the same thing with my first wife. She told me to grow up and spend more time serving god.

First a moment of silence in the honor of Thorgar Wulfson's wife.

It is great to see a some what even age span. I was shocked at first by the TT numbers. Then after reading some posts I totally forgot about Mechwarrior 1,2,3,4, Commander.

I also like knowing there are other married folks out there play MWO and other games.

Regarding the Alienware. I did a Cost analyst on building my own (which I have done several times in the past) After adding the following up, time+money+resources, I determined an Alienware PC was the path for me. While I was a skeptic at first. All and all I am please with my purchase.
Good hunting

I'm just poking fun at him. Alienware is literally the second worst financial decision you can make for PC gaming, after Mac. Like someone else said, I built a faster computer, for cheaper.

This 42 year old bought a new rig with the full knowledge and support of his lovely wife. I may however have failed to properly give credit to MWO for being the inspiration for this purchase when I discussed it with her.

What she doesn't know won't hurt her, eh? I can't stand women that rag on their husbands over hobbies.

I'm 46 years old,
I'm married 24 years to a moderately supportive wife. She pouts cause we don't sit together as much since I joined Beta.

I have two children. One who has become a named Character in the TT game, She is Captain Gail Piazzi of the Redfield Renegades and now MW:O!

I was a proofreader/play tester of the table top(3years) for 26 years of playing, and a video gamer from Mechwarrior 2 through MechCommander or Mercs. I played Mercs last.

It looks like I get to be on the high end of the scale at 53.

I started playing MW3 and the Pirate's moon expansion pack. Vengeance and Mercs followed after that. I spent a significant amount of time online in the VL league but unfortunately, I never had a chance to play the TT game. There was a local group who played for a while, but when the hosting game store closed, the games stopped.

I've collected all of the novels, most of the TROs and source books, roughly 250 miniatures, Japanese models, along with some cool bits like rolled mech blueprints, board games MWDA pieces and a limited edition Madcat (1 of 300, roughly muesum scale) that were cast and given to distributors by FASA (according to the sculptor). Toys...I've got 'em! :D

I'm very lucky to have a beautiful wife who accepts my gaming and tolerates my game-related spending along with my other hobbies.

Last night my two youngest sons watched me play MW:O for a while. If they have their way, they'll be joining soon.

Deepest condolences on your loss, man. Having a soul mate and best friend is that much better when you share things you both love. I hope they allow personalization so you can keep her with you in the game.

See you on the battlefield.

Gotta say that the vote tally has ended in a nice bell curve. Looks like most of the players are in their late 20's.

Yeah, 42, Married, children. Been playing tabletop since 1985.

Founders came out of my allowance easily enough (yeah, I'm the sole wage earner and I still only get an allowance. Don't think for a moment that kids are cheap. :D ) The PC upgrade came from selling off a bunch of junk on eBay. It's all about priorities, like leaving the other MMO to free up time for THIS one!

Hey man, not everyone is comfortable building computers. I'm one of them and salute those of you who can do it. In my case, I'm lucky to have a buddy who works in the IT field who helps me out. As for Alienware being a good or bad investment; I think that would be a subjective comment. After all; if the machine does what he wants and he's happy, then why hate? Enjoy the fact that there's one more team mate or opponent on the field when you drop on a map. :D

I'll be 35 in September (the founders pack is my birthday present to myself in advance). And I have not played the board game. I came across the whole Battletech universe via Mechwarrior 2 which I couldn't play because the family PC was too lame. I only really got into it through Mechwarrior 4 (bought in the Mech Collection back in 2001 from a bargain basket). It might not be as good a game as Mechwarrior 2 but it was sure easier to get running on Windows and it got me away from RTS and FPS games that I had become bored of (gaming in the late 90's and early 2000's deserves the title 'Attack of the Clones' more than any Star Wars film).
