does anyone know how long it takes to get a beta invite approved to Mechwarrior Online? I applied for mine almost a few days after it was released about the upcoming beta, but it's still pending for acceptance?

disappointed that I'm waiting as long as i am, as I really want to play this...

You will have to wait till the Open Beta, or you can buy one of the founder's packages and get in as soon as it clears.

I know of people who are still waiting, and who are already in, and they do include people who didn't get founder, but I don't know if there is a set "time" on how long it takes

Doesn't seem to matter how long you've been waiting. I was here very early too and never an invitation. And now they want people to buy the game sight unseen. Not me.

And even though I was signed up from the beginning for news about the game, I never received a thing, even when it began to go into closed beta. The only email I've ever received is the one wanting me to buy it.

I believe there was a post a long, long time ago where the Devs said that the first round or so of Beta testers were invited based on their hardware profile. After that it was random people. Then random founders only. Then all founders. Now it's probably just totally random invites (if any) until the open Beta.

Kovu, I've been playing Mechwarrior for 20+ years....tabletop first, then MW4 veng and mercs...and a extremely active player, unit founder, and league admin for the past 10 years...and I still dont have access to BETA, been waiting for months.... get in line, sooner or later MWO will get tired of waiting for more people to sign up for "Founder" status, and open it up to the public.

I waited since April. A few days, well, that is a good start. I got tired of waiting and bought the Founder's Package I wanted. It ends soon, and is the fastest, surest way. I recommend it wholeheartedly. Make sure your computer can handle it, check the min/recommended specs.

Started out with random invites skewed towards certain hardware profiles, then totally random invites. At that point 10K people had been entered into the beta. After that, the next rounds were random to founders, then all founders. At this point anyone buying founders gets in immediately. As to random beta invites, I've not heard anything about anyone getting them at this point, they may or may not in the future, but I've no reason to believe any invites are going out at all right now unless you hit that buy button.

All that being said...it's worth your $30.

There is no time limit. There is no waiting period.

Your options are:
1. Buy a founder's pack for access to the beta (Similar to buying a preorder to another MMO)
2. wait for open beta (before end of summer 2012)
3. hope for PGI to renew adding random non-founder players from the pool (small amounts have been added recently, we have received zero details about how many or when).

Sounds like you are considering buying the founders pack.

So I have some friendly advice I would like to offer you and hope you will listen to it.

If you buy a founders pack, you will also get access to the current CLOSED BETA.

If you consider buying a founders pack, I recommend you take the time to read some of the Information on the packs and make an informed decision, and not just buy blindly to get into beta.

This is a real beta and not a preview of how the game will be when released.
Do not expect the game to be feature complete, bug free and expect performance issues.

Many have blindly bought the founders pack only for the beta access thinking they will see a "pre-release Demo" and not an actual beta, and get so disappointed they come to the forums and rage over how this game is buggy and whatnot and make blatant uninformed statements about how the game will fail.

All feedback is welcome, both positive and negative, but you will get far better responses if you are constructive with your feedback, and not post threads that just boils down to "This game sux", or you will get the community telling you "Its Beta".

Before you post feedback, take the time to read the stickies(Pinned) and other information around the forums, as in all likelihood the things you want to bring up has been explained already.

Hope you will take this advice in the spirit it is offered, and that you find it helpful.

This is why companies shouldn't be charging to get beta players. How do you know the value of an unfinished product? People spend money, get into beta, see an unfinished product. That's not the way to do it. You should concentrate on getting real testers who give good feedback, not on making money before you have a product.
