lbx 10 or 20 or guass, or equivalent number of grouped smaller ballistics hitting at the same time, should knock you around a good bit.
lasers .....no knock back at all. they have enough advantages already, and it just makes sense.

In my opinion weapon balance issue should be done step by step considering BT canon "appearance" with respect to existing technology and logic towards a MW simulation.
