I would love to see more of a reaction to hits taken from weapons or physical attacks. That way the combat slows just enough to add a tactical element; the ability to fire a quick AC burst to disrupt the other Mechwarrior's shot. Just as an example.

You mean like in Mechwarrior 2, where getting hit by a big gun (or just rockets) made your mech shake a bit?

Yes and no...more effect so that you're not toe to toe alpha striking till you win..or in my case lose.LOL...Just base the reaction on the size of the weapon used. Man by the way Huge fan of St. Ives Compact...and The Sun Tzu Liao era. Thanks for a solid post, love discussing Battletech.

The reasoning being when you are hit by an AC20 it should knock you off your game or if you are a skilled warrior adjust fire.

Mechwarrior 4 does this too, a PPC will mess you up real good.

Also, to quote the mechwarrior online fb page:

"Man, even an Atlas looks shaken up when taking an AC/20 to the chest"

Sweet, I hope that they really utilize this so that it adds an element of tactics to the combat. Slowing it down a bit but making movement important.

It's been a staple mechanic in the past games so I'd say the odds are pretty good that it will be in MW:O

Oh definately but I wish too see it more of a factor. To slow down the Alpha strike type stuff. LOL Just a thought. I bet they will do an amazing job.

Omnitech is mostly what enabled the alpha strike stuff to happen which won't show up till clans. If we're lucky, the devs will realize how stupidly game breaking omnitech is.

would be nice to break it out by weap type.....missles hitting different spots and slightly off timing would shake you up but not a huge one direct knock like in mw4.

lbx 10 or 20 or guass, or equivalent number of grouped smaller ballistics hitting at the same time, should knock you around a good bit.

lasers .....no knock back at all. they have enough advantages already, and it just makes sense.

Physics x Armor+Weight / Gyro Technology level,,,

I hope a shell rocks you hard. I hope laser weapons don't.

In fact, that could be a balancing factor.

I don't know any numbers but a laser depending on power would have some radiation pressure (http://en.wikipedia....iation_pressure).
In my opinion weapon balance issue should be done step by step considering BT canon "appearance" with respect to existing technology and logic towards a MW simulation.

Like in MW4 where I load a Daishi with 6 LRM5s and sequence fire them so that you'll have a 0% chance of fighting back.

@ Elizander, you sound like the kind of guy who'd use the Trollture (Vulture with four SSRM6) in Mechwarrior: Living Legends. God I hate that thing. But to the OP, yes having screen shake is a staple of Mechwarrior for me and most likely others, i'm sure it will be in

It's one of those things you do to have fun when you realize that some game mechanics are borked.

I loved how firing or getting hit in MW3 took me off-balance and a bigger shove of missile or gauss could knock me off my feet, requiring me to get back up, making me lose a good deal of precious time. But I did miss getting spun around mid-air where I should've done 360's when hit.

Wow great replies guys, you are right about a lot of it in my opinion. I just wanted to make sure that the way you react to hits is not like the other games but more defined. That way it makes combat more tactical.

Something like a AC20 should shake you around abit. Missiles should also shake people up a bit scaling of course (to a reasonable degree) with the amount of missiles hitting i.e. LRM 5 not giving the same ride as a LRM 15. Gauss rifles should hit hard and preferably twist the torso abit. I think how much should be determined by how much the mech weighs, where on the mech it hits, and how much armor it had. By that I mean, if the mech was low on armor the gauss round would probably just tear on through. f t had alot, the round would bounce off or get lodged and in doing so impart all it's inertia and kinetic energy into that spot. Basically low armor little bounce it just tore on through. Lots of armor equals a good jolt.
