Because we each love mechwarrior, and some of us love chrome hounds. those whom played chromehounds and participated in nation wars, prolly know what I'm getting at..

From reading what I could, I saw that we may have faction wars of sorts, how about parts for our mechs that can ONLY be obtained by defeating certin Faction leader mechs. Now i don't mean a mech controlled by a player, because the player would go nuts trying to control such a weapon. and those who can deserve to be known in a hall of fame. :o Anyway what I'm getting to is during such wars, when you get to the capital city theres the big boss. and its "players" who defend it. instead of how chrome hound had its AI's and the Big secret weapon attacking with the AI bots. the Boss mechs apear at random when fighting at the capital area to defend your faction/nation. the bosses of course are very large sized mechs, and very difficult to defeat having upon them a wide rang of weapons. but yea a bit mech sure "players who are in communication with each other can kill it with ease right?" Wrong because This Big weapon will have Players of it's own protecting it... Yes, you have to kill it, by killing the players to get to it, but it will be hard to do. as its their capital city.

I'm sorta still thinking of ideas for this

but what do you guys think?

Why not attack a dropship, those are already in lore and are formidable weapons and usually defended by a lance of mechs or 5. So you could have a tam that defends a dropship and if the timer finishes the dropships weapons become operational.

Um... 'Big mech' generally tops out at 100 tons, aside from oddities like the Omega and *shudder* Ares, neither of which are so uber that you couldn't take one out one on one if you're careful. Further, not all of the leaders of the Successor States are even mechwarriors, and generally are rather far from the battlefield, protected by the elite of their own fighting forces (Davion Brigade of Guards, Otomo, etc.).

Further... Loot drops? Really?... 'Best tech' is Clantech, which wont be around for another year. It's a Mech, not a level 85 Paladink (yes, I spelled that as I intended to). +Uberleet armor doesn't exist, neither do Tier 8000 weapons. The best finds it way to the front because it needs to already in the setting (or it gets salvaged from what you manage to fry), and frankly, it should be about the skill of the man in the mech, not some random super special naval-grade-but-mech-mounted cannon that outdoes whats been established for decades as the best already.

Honestly, it's Mechwarrior, not World of Warcraft or Chrome Hounds, lets stick with that. An evacuation Dropship might be an idea for a 'world boss' of sorts, but at the same time, the leaders generally exist as plot devices in this setting, not active, killable, infinitely respawnable bosses... Not that an exploding Dropship would leave anything left to salvage. In the end... No, sorry, too much of a collection of generic MMO devices for my tastes.

A well organized opfor is much more of a challenge than a big single target that can be focus'd on.

honestly...there were times when i liked mmorpg´s with huge bosses, standing around them for minutes and hours klicking through my skills until the mob went down...

but for me those days are over, and i am more happy with games like MWO, and given the fact that it will grow, and we will get a huge universe of war, i think that will satisfy my needs... my dream would be something like planetside in the BT universe, with several planets...

but what i don´t want is a world of battletech, with bosses, collecting purple/epic ppc´s and what ever :P

only thing killing a sudo boss like a dropship or a rare 100 ton mech would be is a bigger payday of game money for killing it and if this was implemented i only see it as a way to clear PvE story mode witch might or might not end up in game
